Last but not least... The '57 Chevy lettered up as "Tension" is a friend of mines Dad who supplied most of these pics. If anyone know the what ever happened to this car, please let me know... The couple is the last pic lettered up as "Harding Garage" was driven by Jack Sepanek who is a local transmission builder, and still races pretty heavy to this day with his son.

    vintage Pocono Drag Lodge......

    Great Days....

  5. Thanks to oldspwr for sharing. This is just a sample. Go to www.beeonvideo.com for two volumes of still pictures and movies from "back in the day." And to go back even further into the stone age of NEPA drag racing check out the "Foty Fort " video. Drag racing on an air strip gave birth to Pocono Drag Lodge. It was called Drag Lodge as the long term plan was to build a resort there to cater to motorsports fans.

  7. Wally or any body jump in here if I'm wrong.

  8. The awesome Glenwood Ford "Virgin Red. " Who drove it?

  9. The awesome "Lime Fire" driven by Clare Sanders. I still have a b/w photo from Lions signed by Sanders that i bought for 50 cents that day. Check out the 57 Pontiac ambulance.

  10. The late Ken Poffenberger's "Poff's Puffer." Had the pleasure of being reacquainted with him at York a few years back.

Ed Bliss, Bliss brothers national record holding C/D with a coup body on it. Ed would run both class's by switching bodies and adding or subtracting weight bars from the rear of his dragsters main tube (kinda cheated alittle LOl)

I'm overwhelmed by the response so far!!! I'm going down this weekend to take a look at the site and get an idea where we stand on the feasibility of having the first (hopefully!!) reunion there; due to the lateness in the year, we might have to have the first one off site at another location, any ideas of where?? In conjunction with another car show or cruise?? My ultimate goal is to have the reunion at the track. Getting the local fire dept and boy scouts is a great idea!!! I have someone who's meeting with Mr Peregino to iron out some details and see what we can do. He's agreeable to having a reunion at the track. Stay tuned and keep the feedback coming!!

  21. Shit, this is right down the road from me! I won't be around this weekend, but if any of you wanted to get together next weekend, we should make a thing of it.

rt. 115 Bear Creek , Pa.

  23. Take Rt 115 about 5 miles south of turnpike, turn left on county road at the top a hill towards Thornhurst. We knew it as Thornhurst Rd. Within a mile you'll see on your left the remains of the sign foundation, brick or maybe cinderblock. Last time I was there, probably 15 years ago, there was enough room to pull off the road and walk in. If you walk straight in what's left of the road, you will find the track. Starting line will be to your left, shut down hill to your right. Watch out for ghosts on nitro. Take your cameras and post photos please.

More info on directions... After you past the turnpike on 115 and get to the top of the hill, there will be a stop light. There is an ice cream stand on your right and a pizza place on your left. You want to make a left at the light and only go a few miles. There is a bunch of houses on the left hand side of the road, and it's very easy to miss the old entrance. If you go to far, you will run in to a T where you have to make a left or a right...

Red Lang & Woody Busse campaigned this Casey Powell driven Dead End Kids Cuda out of Brooklyn, NY. Car was the ex-Midnight Skulker driven on the West Coast by Stan Shiroma and was raced "just about everywhere in Division 1 with one trip to Motor City Dragway" according to Casey. Powell got his funny car start at the wheel of the New Yorker Mustang out of A&P Automotive in 1970.

My last encounter with Red a few yrs ago he was living I think in VA with Faye and with a bunch of kids

Didn't Pro Stock driver Max Naylor own/drive that blue Roadrunner at one time? I remember seeing him race occasionally at Beaver Springs... maybe in the '70s. It still had the Bird on the sides.
