I realized today that in the short time I have been on the HAMB, I have posted over 300 times! Got to thinking about the enjoyment I have already had here, and decided I've already gotten 50 bucks worth. So I decided to give Ryan 50 bucks and become an Alliance member. The HAMB is a good thing! Glad to be here.
Dean, hypothetical question...if you had a '29 Ford pickup appear in your garage today, what would you want to do with it?? Your old one was one of the very best; what would you do now if you started over with the same tin??
What I've learned on the Hamb is worth more than a measily 50 bucks a year. I'll gladly pay it. Someday I hope to return the favor somehow.
its simply amazing, and its folk like YOU who make it that way. next timei got 50 free i gotta pony up
Funny you should ask. That very thing happened 13 years ago. This is what I did with it. It's all original Henry tin, on a boxed A frame. 355" SBC, Mooneyham 6-71,350 trans, Speedway quickchange. When I finished with vintage VW's, Model T speedsters, and vintage midgets, I needed something to do. Seeing as how I'm married to the most understanding woman in the world, she said "I wish you'd build another roadster, I always liked the old red one." I found this one in Visalia. It had been built in the 70's in the bay area, and was pretty well thrashed. She wanted this one red, but I wanted to distinguish this one from the old one, and not take anything away from it's history, so her next choice was yellow. On our first date, in 63, I picked her up in the red roadster. On our 40th a few years ago, I took her out in this one. What can I say? Once a roadster guy, always a roadster guy.
Geez, I know that car. Photo at the Santa Anita Race Track infield. My buddy Dennis Dewenter has one almost the same.....
No flies on you Mazooma1! Yes those pics are from the Road Kings show at Santa Anita last October. I've seen 3 or 4 other yellow RPUs around So Cal in the last few years. It's funny, you think yellow paint is yellow paint. Then you see 2 yellow cars together, and they are way different. Has to be hundreds of shades of yellow.
Small price to pay,The the tech stuff on the hamb is priceless. The discounts are just gravy. I don't post much, but I do lots and lots of reading. We finally got wireless internet out here on the woods this month. I've spent some quality time looking at the picture threads. Great stuff.
Im a schmuck for not being an alliance member yet with the amount of jobes Ive gotten on here, let alone the enjoyment.
Hi Dean , glad to have you on board , I'm an Alliance Vendor, my way of giving something back . The red car is still in the same place, not progressed but in a heated garage , I still have all the memorabilia you gave me, he gets it when (if ) the car gets done. My way of geeing him on to get it done. I offered to get it shipped back & we'll do the resto here. He says it's going to get done , all the parts are in place to do the Hot Rod mag version . I'll keep you posted . Cheers
great move...lots of enjoyment...lots of info...great people...alliance discounts...money was tight around here but as soon as there was some extra dough I ponied up my 50 to renew my alliance membership...I get more entertainment and info out of this site that I do from my direct tv...thanks Ryan
I became an Alliance Member in May and have been taking advantage of the great discounts buying parts for the new '32 Tudor project. Ryan is offering a great service to all of us, even without the discounts it's worth the $50.
Thanks for the update Steve. I've been wondering about it. I've still got an un opened quart of 61 Corvette Roman Red lacquer if he needs it. I have talked with Pat Ganahl about the red car. He has all of Eric Rickman's negatives from the HR shoot. He also has contacts in England. He would very much like to do a story for TRJ on the car's history, and the restoration. He is going to pitch the idea to Coonan, and thinks he'll go for it. When the time comes, I'll have Pat contact you for info on the shop doing the restoration.
That's funny shit! Guard your mail-box. The H.A.M.B. stuff is sacret. Your alright Dean and I really mean that>>>>.
I was guilty as charged as well, did a lot of buying and selling here to boot. Finally did the overdue deed and stepped up as an Alliance member. Viva la HAMB!
Good choice. The onliest reason mine has expired is that I am extra broke this year. It will be one of my first purchases as soon as I get back on my financial feets.
Ok Dean you have inspired me. I will also anti up. Bought that mag in 62 at the grocery store I worked at, still have it today. Good to see the response to your RPU here. Joe
