oohhh I bet you get some diehard '57 fans wanting to kill you, hey? Looks good! I'm not so sure about the caddy tailights, but perhaps they will grow on me as the build progresses
You should put a hood on it till you replace all that billet and spectra, but i do like the old intake with the front breather.
Thanks fellows for the reviews. The billet has been gone for over a year now with some new picture to follow.Yes the 57 guys have given us a hard time at some of the shows BUT my grandson and I built it our way. This is what a 57 looked like when I went to High school in 1961 and that is what we wanted. Have had customs and street rod for over 45 years and could care less what anybody else thinks about my cars as they were built by me for me!!!LOL.The color will end up a light yellow primer and may not have a hood at all. You see I got very tired of showing cars thru the years and wanted a car I could have fun with and not worry about awards!!!. I build a 55 chevy in 1981 and got a 3rd place trophy out of some 5000 cars at the 1981 Car Caft nationals in Indiana.Could not get a single award in my own state for the same car.So much for Shows!!!! This site is all about the little guys like us and WHO cares what anybody thinks about our cars. Later."Lawman"
I guess i could be considered a 57 guy having one for just a few month's shy of 20 years and i think your ride is pretty damn cool. ESPECIALLY seeing and how its a vision of both your's AND your grandson's. That's great!! Every 57 dosn't have to be Matador red with skirt's, even though most people think so. Keep up the good work and have fun! Tony
Thanks Tony for those kind words.Have had this 57 for about 18 years. Just got it on the road 3 years ago, This car sat in my shop all of those years because two of my daughters wanted horses instead of horse power!!! LOL. It took a heart attack and the thought of my wife getting smart and hauling it away after I was gone to get my grandson and I working on it. After a LOT of praying for life and the two daughters off to college we started. The first picture is my grandson holding an award for "Best Unfinshed" at a local Rod Run this month. As you can see that BIG smile on that young gear heads face made the day for me. I did not want or expect an award and I guess I should have told the Judges that the car was FINSHED !!!LOL. Lawmman
I'm not a big 57 fan, but that one has an awesome start on winning me over! Cool car and a great idea to get the grandson involved.
nice car........here is a pic of mine bought it in 78 700 bucks.......it has the orig 6 with headers and dual carbs........its had ralleys with the ass up........it been solid stock down to the 210 caps/ww............and now she is down where she belongs..................
Hey Flyn, Thats a super little "Short". Who here remembers the custom car term "Short"? as i "Kemp"(Gosh do I date myself or what ?) LOL
57 Chevy Customs are hard to pull off. They look great when they are done right. Mild Custom is much easier to achieve. This one was recently at a show I went to. Didn't even know it was a 57 Chevy! 4dr!!! There's only a few hints of a 57. The bottom half of the front bumper, the center section of the rear bumper and the little dip at the quarter window.
The rear is not my cup of tea, but good for you for doing it your way. I like tube (and 57 Buick) grilles in 57's. The scallops on the front fenders are right on! That green thing is more talent than taste. At least they used a 4 door.
Flyn, I guess we are the only guys who will admit we are THAT OLD!!!! LOL. Have any idea where that term "Short"came from ?
