just got back from a 28 hour drive to Yonkers, New York to deliver my buddies 65' C10 and pick up a 60' T-Bird.
and to all New Yorkers, who drive ANYWHERE around The George Washington Bridge, the Bronxs, or anywhere near.
my hats off to you guys, i've never been so confused in my life.

that and theres a double screen drive-in off of the ohio turnpike if anyone didnt know.

  2. I was in staten island this past weekend...I am amazed at the NYers DMV. Everytime I spoke to someone there, I got a different answer. They are a bunch of assholes.

They refused us a transit permit because the date on the canadian insurance forms wasn't in their US format. Even though it was obviously the correct date.

  3. NY/NJ roads confusing?? naa .... A challenging adventure!

what really pisses me off are the roads. Every time I drive in NYC I feel like I lose my tooth fillings. And the DMV, They are the most creepy bastards to deal with.So bad that there is actually a company that will do all your paperwork at the DMV for you for $50.00.Well worth it.

    F*%KING Crazy!
I was one happy sumbitch when we hit the open road to head home!

Did it for 7 years, 5 and 6 days a week with a tractor trailer. If you're not 100% on the ball at all times, you are screwed. If you leave 2 feet between you and whatever is in front of you, you are screwed again because some asshole will make his car fit in that space or force you to make room for him by cutting you off. There are no rules there, it's fend for yourself and may the most total uncaring driver win

My GF used to live in Brooklyn before I dragged her into NJ. I was in there every wknd in my Ford, sometimes out in Manhattan at night. It was fun, and sometimes confusing, but man did it kill my suspension. Not a bad ride once you figure out what you're doing. Half the fun was the ride in at night.

I'd rather do Long Island than the burrows unless you want to count the L.I.E as the only road in or out to be a pain in the ass. Yeah, they all suck

best part was it was rush hour AND there was a yankees game.
    WOO!
got to an intersection, and as soon and the susspention setteled we got a, "Mo've yer fuckkin truck pal!", car in front, side behind, Yeeaaaahh, get right on that Mr. minivan driver.
And we had the bird on the trailor 3 minutes, 3 taxi cab drivers wanted to buy it.
then there was the getting lost in the Cockels of the bronxs.
if it was in a regular car, alrighty, but a full-size pick up and a trailor attatched with a big ol' ford. HAHA.
got down one street and one guy went by us taking off 3 cars mirrors.
belive me, a trip of a life time. thankfully i only have one lifetime.
    haha

In college (8 years ago or so) I had a shitty 80s Honda and a few of us decided to go in to the city and catch the Mingus Big Band at Fez Cafe. It was my first time driving in the city and got spooked at first, but being from NJ its nothing that we dont have really. Friggin cab driver swerved into my lane and hit me so I sped down a few blocks out of my way to hit him back! Ahhh, welcome to NYC.

HA HA I was there yesterday too. Had to deliver a person and 14 bags of luggage to JFK. Crossing the GW bridge at 5:30pm....stupid....

Drove through the worst rain ever in my driving career (19 years now) on my way down and the second worst on my way home today. Thank god for the Garmin navigator my company has.... I was confused even with it's help. LOL

    I feel your pain....

Stayed overnight in Parsippinay NJ. WTF?!?!? Who designed that mess????

I've driven in NY quite a few times and for the most part it has been a pleasurable experience. But the one rule that I always follow is to stay as far away as possible from anything that could be called a "metropolitan area". Those areas should just be renamed "nightmare areas". To make it worse, the only thing worse than a NY driver is a Massachusetts driver.

I used to go visit a friend at Columbia university on 116th and Amsterdam (upper manhattan)...anyway i had a 70 GMC 3 door suburban with a 402/t400 and i had an "altercation" with a NYC cab. Lets just say that I was victorious (gave the cab a flat when I pushed him sideways!!! Yeah dont bring your finely waxed and primped sissy mobile through mid-town on a busy day(as if there are any not so busy days) cabbies and most drivers really dont care about your car or if they rub ya a little! If ya wanna see some wild car action (not too much traditional just drag racing and burnouts right in mid-town manhattan!!!) check out 2fast2real.com
