    It runs great. 4" bore 4 5/8" stroke 232 c.i. breaks crank shafts. I've busted 2 now.

  4. Can I ask what the cause is to the broken crankshafts?

Hey, That sounds like a plan I can get shirts done.

If anyone has some ideas for the design, post them here or send them to me.

4" bore & 4 5/8" stroke. Counter weighted B crank offset ground 3/16". 3/8" stroke seems to be too much for reliability on the street.

I can't say that hard driving has had that much to do with it. First one broke in less then 200 miles. This last one went @ 1500 miles.

I wish I had a stocker short block as a spare to use in the car untill I get the stroker worked out.

Don't mean to insult your intelligence but I suspect reducing the journal diameter on a 70+ year old crank might be the problem. If you want to keep the stroke for the torque, you might be ahead in the long run seeing if Scat or someone can grind you a billet crank. $$$ I know. Didn't Donovan offer a new crank?

No insult taken. Any advice from those with experience is cheaper then lessons learned the hard way. I said the same thing when discussing the build. I relyed on the engine builders experience that this would be fine. I guess I was a Guinea pig on this one.

I dont know if Donavan is making a 3 bearing crank. The one they make for their engine has 5 mains.

I will probably go a different direction when I get back into this one. Probably a 5 main set up.

As this is a picture thread, We should probably move this topic to next months Banger thread.

Sorry if this got the thread off on a tangent

  12. fur bisuit,

Sad to see that one go- it was a great speedster! Do you have any pics of the chassis during the build?

Old Crow has always been banger powered. Last year had a HAL single overhead cam head, but this year she's running a flathead. I'll post pics of the new motor soon.
    Bangers forever !!!!!

  24. The Odeon Shag Cee-dan. Current weapon of choice whilst it still makes me smile! Stock-ish '30 Fordor, on 4" & 4.5" steels, ported Diamond B block, touring grind on the cam, reshaped stainless stock size valves, early Thomas head, and 3.54 gears in the rear. Cruises at a steady 60mph all day, 4-up with all the camping gear in, on, and around. I can ask no more - hell, I'm quite fond of the ol' slug.

I've been really enjoying the banger threads on the HAMB, but since I'm not sure what my plans are for my 32 B Woody, I really haven't felt like I could contribute. Well I think I came up with something. It's a rough start, but what do you guys think of this?
