So far me and my favorite sidekick Cuzzindeke have had a great time at home here in the very hot and humid middle of Kansas. Good turnout with over 700 show cars, good swap meet, and very good attendance from the general public. Lunch with Hambers on Friday at the Cozy Inn hamburger joint. The drags on Friday night were fun with a huge crowd of spectators. Lots of Hambers are here for this show. They are definently the future of Kustom cars and hot rods. I bought Gene Winfield's new book and he signed it for me. George Barris, Bill Hines, and many very talented car builders are here. The Hamb meet and greet went well and I met some new folks. We are lucky to have this show in our hometown and are making the best of it.

Here are some photos from the meet and greet. Cal (carkiller) and Denise, followed by Kerry, Nosurf, Megan, and Chicken. Last photo shows Malcolm in the middle (again).

This 55 Chevy was my favorite car of the show and was fabulous. Built by Austin Speed Shop and interior by Fat Lucky. I think it won best paint as well.

Yes. This is the famous 404 roadster that is a drag racing legend in CA and now part of the Roger Morrison collection here in Salina, KS. He owns alot of important historical hot rods. I got to meet Dave Crouse from CO who restored this car and Alan Johnson who striped it following the work of Von Dutch.

I was standing by the 404 roadster drooling and two guys walk up and one says. "What in the hell would you want to do that to a real roadster for?" So I ask what do you mean? He said "That goofy paint job, it would have looked better all black." I just walked away. Guess he couldn't read the Pebble Beach decal on the hood. Proably wouldn't have know who Von Dutch was anyway.

I haven't been able to make it the show yet, maybe tomorrow, but I was in Salina tonight and drooled over alot of the cars. My kids, 2 4 and 5 loved driving around looking at them also. I'm glad that Salina is able to host an event of this caliber and hope that it continues.

  22. Nice stuff everyone. Some of these cars were in Omaha at the World of Wheels. I think the outdoors really works for them. Thanks for sharing your wares.
