What does everyone think about this tall T. I just got it back from the blaster and wanted to chop it like 10 inches, but it is already channeled 4" and everybody says I should leave it tall.
depends on how tall you are and how much you want to drive it. If its just for show chop the hell out of it but if you want to ever see the stop lites leave it be....
What look are YOU going for???? And.. how tall/big are you? A 10 inch chop? With a 4" channel? You better be a little feller like me if you plan on driving it comfortably on long trips. Plan on seeing the traffic lights when you are stopped at one? Look at pictures of other Ts and find the look you want.
I'll be the odd ball I guess, but leave it be and look different than most all others. I see tons of chopped ones and never see the tall ones. They look wild already, just make the stance right and the motor choice and it'll stand out. Plus it's already channeled which adds to the "look" already.
I'd chop it to look like the AMT model kit from the '50's. Suicide front end, with big Lincoln motor and Latham supercharger. Always loved that car. At any rate, I'd chop it. Hell, I even re-chopped my Deuce 5W from 3" to 4 1/2". The lowerer the betterer. :]
couldnt have said it better. The proportions look so right when they are chopped 10.(more pics in my sig "my car")
I say be different and don't chop it. Everybody tries to out chop and channel or section everyone else.... I say... don't chop it... but give it a killer 60's style slant forward stance but lower that chassis down really low.
A voice of reason in a sea of form over function. Sit in the damn thing. They're small. Already channeled 4", you better be a little fucker. A real little fucker. Build it to drive. If you don't feel like you can get in it and drive 6 hours then you won't like driving 1 hour. If all you're worried about is a look and not how it functions then I bet you'll end up not driving it. Give yourself a little headroom and a little legroom.
This is very close to the look I was refering. I would raise the back end up a bit though while keeping the same depth of channel on the cowl area. Try to get the top of the rear tires below the deck lid height. my .02
JFRASER, Correct me if I'm wrong but your body is a Tudor with a section removed behind the B pillar correct?
To not decide is to decide. Build it tall. Drive it that way for a year and then ask yourself the question again.
Yeah, it's photoshopped...my apologies to the owner. I also experimented with channelling it to where the deck was lower, but it didn't look as good as this one...He has it right.
I'd leave it tall. You can always chop it later if you like. Or why not innovate? Design a clean looking way to make it adjustable by sliding up and down!
Very well done! You even got a perfect reflection in the rear window. Wish I had the system to adjust photos.
