I decided heat or not, I needed some shop time this afternoon. I got the cowl hoops notched and tacked on. I tore into the hemi I plan to use. The bottom end looks great. The pistons are plenty stuck so that's going to be a long term project.

Looks like I'm going to get to help bending the back and top hoops some evening this week. Looking forword to that.

:-D Well, there's a reason I'm using a stuck 354 engine. I'll be boring it out to over 4" for the used forged 392 pistons I'll be using. I've got a number of cherry 354 blocks that are useable with just a hone job. I can't bear the thought of taking them out that far. This block, on the other hand hasn't spun any bearings but definitely needs to be bored out.

Have you had any nibbles on your stockpile? I meant to get ahold of you at the KKOA deal and demand a private showing but there was just to much to see and to many folks to talk to.

Yor're making this sound so noble Mazooma. I'm just a car guy with an addiction and I can't help myself. :)

  10. HOT? HOT in Kansas? You should try it here in Houston. About 103 at 90+% humidty. A real wet hell I'll tell ya, but nothing like it was in Kuwait/Iraq last year. I'll take this heat any old day. And the car looks great.

I usually leave home Friday morning dark thirty and get to the host hotel before 8:00 am. There was some talk of carpooling to the swap meet. I'd be up for that.

  14. Looks good Kerry.

What the heck is that square U-shaped thing in front of the left slick? (Our right, the car's left.)

Slot mags, cool, heckuva deep backspace though.
    What size are the wheels?
You're running motorcycle front wheels are you not?

What do you plan to use for a seat?

    Would this work?

Ha ha! You don't miss anything Jay. That would be my first and wrong effort at the rear axle mounting plates. I made the hole in the center of the plate, like the earlier square Dragmasters, but to get the car where it needs to be I needed to make it at the top of the plate.

The slot mags and slicks are actually for the coupe. I'm just using them for a roller. I took the twisted 28 splined axles I had removed from the coupe when upgrading to 31 splines and cut them to fit the narrowed housing. A buddy who is a reseller for Mosier should be ording the real axles this week.

I've got a pair of aluminum 15x8.5 5 on 4.75 Torq Thrust American wheels you can just see behind the right slick in the pic with the axle mounting plate you had asked about. I also have a neat set of Airheart disk brakes to use. Of course it is 5 on 5. I'm going to have another friend weld them up and will redrill for the 4.75 pattern.

I had picked up some aluminum to try and make a seat but I'd like to be as lazy as possible. You know me. ;-) What are the dimensions of the seat in the picture? I've got 19" width to play with. Won't you need it for the lakes?

Here's a pic of the stock Harley wheel.

I believe they are 2000 and newer front Harley wheels. They were the cheapest I could find on Ebay that I thought would work. I cut the hub down on both sides, bored the hub for different bearings, and cut part of the rim lip off that protruded out. Seemed simple but took a while. Kinda heavy but very strong.

C'mon, you don't want a sissy girl Vagabond to build your chassis do you? ;-)

If you haven't seen my new induction system Jay, check it out here.

  21. The base measures 17 1/4" wide without upholstery.
It does have black upholstery, but I never put it on.

Nahh on the dry lakes, the car started turning out so nice I decided to put it on the street . . . with an occasional romp at the drags.
Got a pair of Centerlines with 80% worn slicks.
    15" x 10" and 4" backspace which fits the 31, but won't fit the 32 due to it's external rear 4-bars.
(The 31's 4-links are inside the frame.)

The 31's been stalled as a project for a while.
I should be able to get back to it in a couple of months.

I do have some stuff to install.
CK gave me a Gennie Shifter E-brake after he learned I was going to find a junkyard handle and go from there.
It was left over from his 29 roadster that he traded for the blue flame painted 46 sedan.
He never did get the E-brake installed in the roadster and the 46 has one.

Pic taken on a recent trip to the pinstripers who headquarters at a cafe about 20 miles south of Hoover dam.

Great food, not so good pinstriping . . . the striper let the kid apprentice do it.

Trying to get things better organized in the shop - about done there - and may start the E-brake install tomorrow.
Supposed to rain so that'll make it a nice day.
    Hot and humid here today.
I wimped out and came in at one o'clock.

If the seat will help, it's yours....

Do you have a different third member setup so you can swap the whole thing? 3300 could be a pain, especially in your 455. I'll be looking for your oil control post.

I wasn't very clear. The Torq Thrusts are already 5 on 4.75. It's the Airheart brake hats I need to change from 5 on 5 to the 4.75. There is only enough meat where the existing pattern is drilled. I'm going to do it at local buddy's place using his bridgeport under his direction. School is in session for me. :)

Your slicks sound like they're in the same condition as my rollers. Good enough for the HAMB drags, look out Abone.

Chuck's moved onto another ride huh? Nice looking ride. Have you guys been out on the firing range (dez) lately?

I'll let you know on the seat when I get the back hoops on. I think it might be a case of simple isn't the best but I'm not going to rule it out.

Say hi to Gay for me.
