Would I be banned from the HAMB for this?

  1. To try to use it as is, first you have to fix it, then you gotta be prepared for a couple tow bills when it craps out. THEN a really long period of down time 'till the not so easy to find parts arrive.

I'm betting an engine swap to a later Toyota 4 banger would be a piece of sushi. Might even use one with an automatic and A/C. Now you got a "dare to be different" ride with some attitude.

"No one knows what it's worth" only means that it's so rare here in the states that there is no sales history to determine a value. If sonie boy wants more than 2k, no matter how cool it is, I'd pass on it. Some day you'll want or need to find it a new home, don't bury yourself in the way in so you get creamed on the way out.

The trick would be to find one of the aluminum Japanese hemi V-8's. I've seen 2 in California, might know where 1 still is.

Sounds like a nice car....If I remember right the Crown Deluxe was VERY rare, but it is just a fancy Corona...neat cars...It would be pretty sweet with the little 2.6L Crown Hemi, or a normal Hemi.....But my choice would be a little 22r 4cyl.

Looks like a cross between a Chevy, Pontiac and a Rambler. I'd pull all the badges off and when asked what it was, I'd look at them funny and say in a dismissive tone "It's a custom 56 Chevy, I just forgot and left it out on the rain".

Looks kind of like that blue English car that Ron and Harry drove into the Whomping Willow in the Harry Potter book 2 or 3. Got what was coming to it. Whomped.

Actually, the black car looks great as it is. But you know it is like that joke about fat women and mopeds. Fun to ride, just don't let your friends see.

Hmm, then it is a right hand drive, like that country where men wear skirts? :p

It's a 4-door, so I'd leave it like it is, and take your spouse grocery shopping in it, like it's designed for.

I dunno, even the gasser thing left me cold untill someone mentioned the jap Hemi, now a fully Japanese gasser could be cool.

I'd build it like any these Anglia, Morris, Austin, Volvo, or Hillman Gassers.

    They were all Imports too.

I wouldn't turn it into a Theme Car by only using Japanese Parts...

    Attached Files:

  15. The General Morris was an Aussy car, made here not an import.

    No shit?

    You made your own Morrises?

I did not know that...I thought you got them shipped from England...

Wow, I didn't expect this much feedback, most of it positive, except for those damn Nightmares, they're so "old school". :D

Although I agree a gasser would be cool I'm diggin' on that black one.
I've also thought about a driveline transplant. I was wondering if a newer Toyota engine would drop in without much fabrication. I happen to know where there's a couple of motors and trannies.

"We" dislike Japanese coz most of them seem to be soulless automotons.......if THEY found an old US car, for most of them, Their first thought would be how much they could get for it selling it back to the US.

Let's see how many "red-blooded, flag-waving Americans" suggest going the profit-before-patriotism route too.

If you're OPEN minded......appreciate whatever you like about it...and enjoy.

If you're anti-modern-Japanese-culture.....at least have the balls to put your money where your mouth is....

......ME - I'd PAY for it.....then CRUSH the POS and post the video on Japanese YouTube.

I believe the Toyopets were built on pickup truck chassis and not sold in the US after a lack of response from American buyers to a not so small roughrider of a car. Toyota retained a presence in the US because the American outdoorsmen loved the Toyota "Jeep", the Landcruiser. They re-entered the US car market with the smaller Corollas, Coronas, etc and have just surpassed GM in total sales, the first time General Bullmoose has been whipped by anyone let alone a foreigner.

Who cares what anybody else thinks of it! What matters is do you like it. I say make it a gasser with a TRD 355" c.i. USAC silver crown engine with a carb in it. I bet it would haul ass is done right!

Here goes...The begining of a whole new is that's not trad. argument.....

Prove that that car is not traditional...It fits into the aloted time period...0-'64...Only the modifications he would perform on said vehicle would place it in the trad. or non trad. categories...as of yet there are no modifications to said vehicle...Just because it's foriegn does not meen it is not trad. There have been countless threads about that...Open your mind up a little bit...Why can't some people see potential in all vehicles?? trad. or not, that could be a bad ass little car. Build it, Beat it, and then Rebuild it of course to beat it once more:D

I think I (we ) may be mixing nationalities here....but.... wouldn't that be "flied lice"

Oh yeah, that thing could be made to look cool too......but traditional..I don't think so...You show me a picture of a custom or gasser from back in the day, and I'll change my mind.

Should you be banned ??? Nah, there's lots of guys here that don't have completely traditional cars.......

Yeah, it doesn't say anywhere that you have a stash of Strombergs, Kelsey Hayes, or some type of uber-rare flathead speed parts that you plan on putting on it, so you'll probably be banned. Labeled unpatriotic, then some smart ass will tell you there are other websites better suited for this type of car interest. As they sit behind their foreign made computer that wasn't made in a particular period of time, feel satisfied in their cyber toughness, swig the last sip of their Stabucks latte, and jump into their Prius to get to their Blockbuster job on time.

Your money, an intersting find, and thinking outside the box. I congratulate you my friend! Sorry to hear your loss of membership here and look forward to seeing how your build goes over on www. individuality .com

It's actually a pretty neat little car. It'd be nice with a little chevy SB in it... so long as you don't run a foreign motor in it

I wish i could say the same...
