I took the last shot of Garlits on the run which he set the first 200+ record at Island in 1964. 201.34. Note the photographer standing above the right front wheel. That guys shot was on the cover of National Dragster...mine is now on the HAMB!!!!!

King- Yours looks very much like mine. Do you know what year, and who built it? I picked mine up as a roller near Kansas City about 15 years ago.

rich ,this k-88 is dick belfatti's "The Shadow" (#2 - 1st shadow rail was a TE-440) I hijacked it for my ever growing shadow picture history. If I could find out how to post a slide show I'd put it up for all to see?

FED are way scary, i did the one in Rod & Kulture, issue #13 called 'Old Bones', it was originally 97" and i stretched it to a heapin 100" witha 526" KB, 10-71 Brower and 4 port hilborn it can make 1800hp.
I might have some of the old autocad drawings i did for it, i wouldn't copy them tho. It dated back to early 60's and was/is a tretcherous piece of equipment. oj

No tag. From online photos I have decided its probably a 64'/65' vintage chassis. I'm unsure of the builder though. It's not NHRA legal but I have made a few exibition type passes with it. Scary fun! Thanks - Mike

  20. Here's my slingshot. The "Pontiac Heaven Special". A for Real AA/Fuel dragster.
I had her built in 2000 with the idea to look as 'old' as is possible without sacrificing safety or performance potential.
I did the candy apple red paint over a gold base coat, It has 3 front axles, narrow ( shown) wide and wider yet witha simulated torsion bar front end. Rear wheels are polished magnesium Halibrands. Engine is an iron 1960 389 Pontiac using stock painted valve covers and a vintage 3 rib enderle hat. Considerable thought and money has gone into this project with many one off custom pieces needed to run this demanding class.
The car has the required 3.90 rear and no trans (direct drive) per the class rules. She get towed around with a modifyed '72 dragster trailer and is pulled by a '61 Catalina wagon.
In '06 she became the quickest Pontiac in drag racing history with a 6.77. It was actually a part pass, only 1,100' under power. She coasted to just over 200mph.
I am working to get this car in the 5's at over 240mph.
Ultra rare M/T Pontiac HEMI heads from 1962 will be on the car in the future.
I love slingshots and I love Real Pontiac power.
