    Well,

I've been planning to build some sort of truck into a fenderless bobber with my straight 8 flatty and I couldn't resist this "BARN FRESH" farm truck.

Cab is flawless, "ran when parked", engine does turn over freely ( should run ), and came with a Calif clear title.

    Sooooo

What do you guys think ? get it running or CHOP it up ?

I'm leaning towards getting it running and driving it around a bit. My fear is that if I attempt to get it running that it will nickle dime me to death and I will end up cutting it up anyway.

    Ohhh, It's a 45 Dodge

It towers over my coupe... LOL

I'd be more tempted to drive it than anything else. It'd be fun regardless of whatever you do.

Think of it this way - if you start to chop it, you'll have another project that sits and waits for you to finish and THEN drive it. Nickel and dime is nothing compared to a larger project price.

Drive the rest of the season and then if you wanna hack it up, do it in the winter. If it were mine, I would keep it as is for a long while. That's a cool old truck as it sits. I just dig old trucks. They always look like they have a story to tell.

Cut it up and it's just another "rat rod". Have fun like it is, it'll draw a crowd as good as or better than if cut. If you want to cut one, all you need is a cab anyway.....

I've always liked old trucks. Especially one that looks like it hasn't been molested. There's an old 54-56 Ford by me that I would love to get. Looks just like yours. I'd just drive it.

Put a ramp on the back and haul your hot rod with it. I think old trucks with a ramp make excellent hot rod haulers. Put some big tool boxes under the ramps and a cargo area between the ramps.
    Oh yea, NO CHOP!!:cool::D

Sweet truck. I'd keep the body like it is, just lower the stance and stuff a tire smoking motor in it.

If you're gonna chop it, then you'll end up doing a million other body mods, new wheels/tires, etc etc. I'd get it running. You can always chop it later.

My granddad had a 46 Dodge that he bought new and kept 'til he died in '71. I'd leave it the way it is and have fun with it. Or you could sell it to me, since I've been wanting one for years.

Not that my opinion is worth anything, but it looks too complete to tear down to a bobber style. I vote for build it like it is and find a less complete truck for the bobber.

Leave it as is, get it running, clean it up and then drive the wheels off of it. I don't think it would look half as good with a chop.

Well I messed around with it a bit tonight

Things I have learned since fisrt post

    1. It's positive ground ( I think )
    2. 6 volt sux balls
    3. This truck has been re-wired at least 100 times
    4. Their is no oil filter ( weird )
    5. It's the 316th Dodge to come off the line after the war
    6. Black widows are fawking CREEPY
    7. Squirrels apparently LOVE walnuts

I'm going to try to get it running and driving.

Oh, and having all the paperwork in order is sooooooooooooooo FAWKING nice.:D
