I would first like to thank everyone who attended the show this year. It was a near success in my opinion. I will explain the successes and the failures later in this post. I have been at a loss for words over the last few days and this is the reason for the late post.

I would first like to start with the failures in my opinion and from other attendees. The cars are a big issue to me and the club. I cannot figure out why it is so hard for people to understand the criteria of the show. (If their car meets the criteria). I had four issues at the registration booth that could have become a fight if I pressed the issue. All of this because a guy has no idea of what this all is.( IT LOOKS COOL IN THE MAGAZINES!!!) I am getting tired of telling people that this is not a classic car show!!!!! At this point if the show only has 50 cars that is Ok with us. This show is not about making money or trophys. This is the reason for only one this year. We are trying to have a show that represents what you might see from 1939 to 1964. We understand that there might be some rat rods. That is Ok as long as they are not these theme cars that seem to be part of what we do now. We are not looking for finished cars either. There have been a lot of rumors concerning this. I love but hate beautifully finished cars. I should say I hate owning them. As far as the customs we love them. But we want to see that they are on the way to being one. This show is not for stockers!!!! Enough of me bitching about this. Lets get to the good part of the show.

The best part of the show this year was how many people attended. This is great for our vendors and the other business around our venue. Most of all Tacoma. The economic impact must be huge. This is the reason we have no issues doing what we do in our downtown setting. I could not believe how many families were walking around. The cars this year were great as well. We really had some good ones. I liked a comment from someone on the HAMB saying the he thinks we are hiding all of the '32 5w's up here. We love the that so many people are building new cars each year. The fact the people are building cars just to make it to this show. That is fucking huge to us. The car community we have here is second to none. I was talked to by numerous people over the past few days telling me about some of the car clubs on Saturday night in the lower parking lot walking around picking up garbage. You know who you are. The only thing we can say is thank you. This our community telling us how much respect they have for us and the show. These are the reasons we put this thing on.

One other item to let eveybody know about is that we did not have one police incident. Just a noise call on Friday night. Damn topfuel cars!

There will be some major changes for next year. We are still in the talking mode but we will have it up on the web site as soon as possible and here on the HAMB. If there are any concerns or questions please feel free to pm me or call the shop. Thanks again to all.

Steve, I just want to thank you and your club members for putting on such a great show. No show I attend in Canada will be abl to compare, I know that for a fact. I had a blast, and I know my friends did as well.

Also, thank you and the boys at Amocat for letting us bring Matt's '48 to the shop on Sunday, you are all very down-to-earth guys and I'm glad I got the chance to poke around in Amocat.

    Thanks again for everything.

  3. I look foreward to the coverage of your show every year. It seems that every car at your show is "right".
    Well done.

I wish I was there. I saw all the pic posts the cars are perfect along with the downtown setting.

I took my coupe to a "car show" this weekend along with a fellow HAMBER who brought his 40 pick up. While waiting in line to pay the reg fee, another "car show person" flipped off my buddy and his wife! 7 AM, things not looking so good.

As we were parking, a guy with BILLET devices on his door made to hold them open a certain amount was shaking his head in disgust.

We had the only 2 traditional cars out of 400. Our cars got the most attention and were photographed the most. My buddy drove a long distance to get to the show, farther than any other I'm sure, including the trailer queens.

We need a traditional gathering like yours here.

I would be sorry to see an end to this show
    but understand your dilema

hope to be a part of whatever this evolves into.

this year's Hotrod A Rama was by far the best yet.
    thanks

Any chance of some tradionally built pre 64 Cycles in the future?? My 1942 45 bobber would sure love to come out of hiding mabey even with the Full race KR upper and 57 inch lower i'm doing. I know there are more traitional bikes in hiding, not just Blockheads with springer front ends

Good Show, I tried to make it with my fully traditional, in construction, 64 camino but it fried 3 sets of points that week so apparently it didnt want to go. Next time it will have the 301 and American Mags... or mabey if i bust ass i might have the first incarnation of my t roadster down there

Cant wait for next year though!!

Steve, the Hotrodarama is THE event for PNW people, the main event, the event that is talked the most during the year. That's quite amazing considering the fact how many cool events you guys have up there, nostalgia drags, Swindlers' Run, Goodguys', Tacoma swap meets, Portland Roadster show etc. you name it... But the Hotrodarama is always #1 for those people! That's for sure. And that's pretty cool, don't you think!

  9. Steve,
I thank you for the great show. I meant what I said Friday night, and this WAS THE BEST YEAR EVER. Period. My friends and I drive from Spokane every year, and will continue evey year as long as the show goes on. Next year I will have the coupe there so I can participate.
Your a hell of a guy, and the show is the best in the Northwest.

For everyone else to know, I met Steve for the first time at Billetproof, talked for like 5 minutes, and that as that. Friday night at the show he walked up, shook my hand and thanked me for coming. That made me feel like a million bucks, and it was not only Steve, everyone at that show is just damn cool! It shows these guys care about the show and the people who attend.

    See you next year, Chris

I really want to thank you for a great "Event", as I belive it is more than a car show. The cars, bands, dragsters, and great group of people that attend make this an event. You guys run a great event, and hope the changes just make it better. We have a group that drives up from central oregon every year, and I hope to have my car at least semi presentable for next year, can't wait for next year.

So how many cars were there? If there were only 50 I can't see the vendors lasting long...

  13. You apparently haven't been paying attention.

  14. Steve, we had a great time at the show. Sorry we bugged out Saturday evening, but your party the weekend before killed us. ha ha. I know you guys try so hard to keep things as traditional as possible, and most everyone respects that. Liked we talked about at the show, there were a few more people there trying to get their "classic car" in this year than in years past. that's unfortunate, but is also the mark of running a successful show for so long, word eventually gets out to the local camaro, mustang, chevelle, street-rod owners that there is a car show in town.

All in all, I think the show is still a great success, although it seems to me to be a bit hard to handle such a big event at times....I know you guys put a ton of work into the show, and it is markedly evident.

    Congratulations on another fantastic event.

Hopefully we can chat more this weekend at the Swindlers BBQ? Bring Izzy, she can keep Bonnie company.

I cant say enough good thinks about this show and the people who put it on. I have been every year and it only gets bigger and better in my opinion. This is the event I look forward to every year and would love to be there in the future. This was a great think for the NW when this show started and I think it has forced some people to bring out cars that may not have been seen by the public. NW has always had great cars and this is a neat place to showcase that. Lets see many more years in the future. Thanks to Steve,Dale and the mischief makers for all there hard work over the years. We appreciate it.

  18. I would like to thank both Steve G. and Shawn W. all the work they did with The Swiss,Vendors, The City of Tacoma(permits). Getting the fuel cars ! Alot of this show rest on Steve's and Shawn's back with all the things that need to be done. The last minute details( get the small things done) I see what they both had to do ! My hat is off to them both !!!!!! A job done great ! I am proud that you guys are my friends !!!! ....... Rob M. Mischief Makers C.C.

Hey Steve-o... I know very well how much of your heart and soul goes into pulling the show together every year. Don't be discouraged by the bad parts of the show because it will eat you alive. Focus on the good stuff. I don't have to tell you that your hard work is greatly appreciated by many. The show is hands down the standard for which all other northwest shows are measured. Try and remember that. Because that fact should re-enforce the need to keep going with it. I don't envy you for having to enforce what can and can't get in. just look at the poll thread I put up a while back. So many views on what people want and nobody can please everyone. Keep that in mind... just try and please yourself.

    Steve,

like Chris said, we drive over from spokane every year and would never think twice about it as long as it lasts. As Chris also stated, you never seem to forget anyone!!! I met you through "forsakenfew" a few years back, have never really ever talked to you, and you still take the time to say hello and shake my hand every single time you see me. It really does make a guy feel like a million bucks!!!

You are one of the most stand up people I have ever met and look forward to the show every year. I swear all of us just come home on sunday every year and sit around talking about the weekend and how we cant wait til next year the very day we get home.

I think we PNW guys are very lucky to have you and the show. It has to be tops for the entire country. Everyone who cant be here for it should be envious.

    Thank you very much,

    Tyler

I loved the show and plan to be back next year.

Yeah there were a few cars I didn't understand, but then there were many more that captured my attention and required a dozen or more pictures.

I took a buddy who had not attended in the past and I'm sure he will be back next year too.

After what happened to Eric's Pontiac at the Dice Magazine party in Seattle we forsure will not have bikes. We have had a ton of issues in the past and that is the reason for no bikes. That old saying. I think we all know. We all like them, but we don't want to have to explain to another guy why his bike does not fit the criteria. Thanks agian

Huge thanks to Steve, Shawn and all the others that make this event happen. I travel all over the country to probably as many shows a year as anybody, and Hotrodarama is easily in my top 3. The quality cars and friendly people of the Pacific Northwest are what make it worth the torturous drive from Texas.

    Thanks again!

  30. Forget about what happened to the "technicolor dreamboat"(tm), I'm a little more concerned about what happened to his SEXUALITY at your show!!!
