Check the tail end of mine out too, I thaught this was a finished pic but I'm usre there is anotehr colour onthere !!!
I don't have one, but there is a 58 oldsmobile 88 going for 1200 with the engine in my town. No clue on the condition.
Here's mine that is a work in progress. Have a couple of newer Olds motors of which I was planning to use one. Have a 1971 olds 350, a 1971 455 or a 1977 403 to chose from. Also have a 1968 Olds 12 bolt if I want to make it all Olds. 1936 3 window coupe that was stored since 1971, is on original paint and is totally rust free. I also picked up a 1934 3 window coupe body along with a bunch of other Olds parts which would have made a cool project, but I decided to let someone else take it on and sold it last month. Got the running 403 for cheap and it is supposed to be rebuilt, but it has 7 cylinders at 150lbs and #7 is at 75lbs.
here is my recently purchased 1939 ute .i will post a thread on this as soon as i get her cleaned up a bit.looking for centre and lower grille sections and headlight surrounds .hard to find over here
thanks for youre interest rocketroach .the grille on ebay is the side i have (passenger side u.s) as in the photo.need the other side .there is a lower grille for sale but only posts to u.s.rather deal with fellow rodders anyway .hope to see more pics of early olds dave
Lots of cool Oldsmobile's here, the early 30's coupes neat i had a 34 Buick 3/w coupe with about the same look sold that I got to get my 50 running one of these days
Was this at the Asphalt Invitational last year? If its the one I am thinking of, pictures don't do it justice, it looks bad-ass!!! Nailed the stance and with that motor and no front bumper, look out!
thanks yeah it was there, the first pic was actually taken on the way home from that show! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJiiHopTXZE
Here you go Mat, this is a 34 Buick Series 50 they might share some of the same parts as the 34 Olds? I sold the car to Larry he was on Jesse James Monster Garage - Monster Nation, Larry builds some nice cars rickyracer1962 that is a cool you tube video of the 51 Olds like the 2 - 4's sound great & steps right out
Here's the '62 Olds 88 I was selling for my brother on ebay, but that got switched around a little...I traded him a '65 442 convertible project for this baby! This Olds has 68K original miles, and was ordered with the 335 horse 4-bbl 394 from the factory. Very cool, and I honestly think it's better looking than a Starfire...! old1.jpgold12.jpgold2.jpg
Nice body choice, Fidgiter....that body style has to be the cleanest looking of all the mid-60's GM styles.
My 59 Olds 98 'vert which i owned from 03 till 06. I wish i'd kept it as it's proving a hard act to follow
51 88 I have done a few cosmetic things to it, but I don't have any recent pictures. Here is what it looked like when I got it.
Have a 40 Olds 4-door that is the best riding car I ever owned. Gets better gas mileage with a edelbrock carb than the wifes 40 Chevy with EFI .
Hello all hamb rocketeers .My name is pauli pikkarainen and iam from sweden ,here is a couple of pictures of mine oldsmobile super 88 1951 convertible,i have been working whith the olds since 2002 ,and there is missing the new upholstery and the convertible top yet,i hope its there to next summer ,this is the first summer on the road ,see you all hamb members and rocketeers ,PAULI
Only saw one other 56 in this thread. Never see any at the shows and when I do they are resto's. Took it to an "Olds only" show and thought I'd get linched for my engine swap. Doesn't matter that I get 24 on the road and my old 324 got 9 on a good day with half the horse power. Anyway, I've put 23K on it since it hit the road three years ago....fun fun fun!!!
Dogtag, I absolutely love my 371 J2 in my 57, but at 6 - 10 mpg it don't get taken for long rides no more. Local cruises only. Last long run was the Turkey Run and I'm still paying off the gas bills. How much trouble was it to set the new engine and trans up? I know the LSI makes more hp than the 324, but what about torque? Most people I talk to recommend replacing the 371 with a big block to assure maximize power and torque. 455's and 454's are getting harder to come by, so I guess I would probably be heading toward a new 502. BTW, your 56 looks sweet. I see your dash color is the same as mine was originally, before the repaint. Whole car looks to be a super ride.
Dago88 Love the smoky launch in the 50 but you had to be scared sitting in the passenger seat like that!
