The guy I bought it from bought it from the guy that did all the work. The original owner/rodder picked up another car and did the same thing to it. Then he ran out of cash. Sold the car I now own to another guy that was going to finish it. To0k most of it apart including pulling the engine and trans. Then he lost his storage 2-3 times over the last year. I think he looked at the shell and 12 boxes of parts and did'nt know how to finish it. My golf cart was worth around $2300.00. Thats the cliff notes version. I guess you gotta be in the right place at the right time for deals like this to work out. Craigs List has been great for me. Not to mention I am a pretty good wheeler and dealer. I was told the first rodder had put $10,000.00 into this 51. I guess if you pay to have it all done I would believe it.

This is the Matranga Merc and it has the stance your Chevy is craving. ;) Beautiful car man, glad to see it on the road! And that's a great story about how you got it. You lucky bastard. ;)

I didn't see it asked... but did glass come with this? The windshield might be a stumbling block for ya.

Here you are, this is the stance i was talking about, not slammed, but not THAT high either. These came to mind with the style of heavy chop on your car. In my opinion a good 2-3 inches of drop on your chevy would look spot on maybe a bit more in the rear

id lower it 3" in the back (about the max if you dont want the driveshaft to hit), and about 2 1/2 in the front via cut coils (cutting 1 1/2 coils generally equals about a three inch drop in most cases)....there are other ways, but this is the cheapest way...do NOT heat the coils to drop it....

The only glass I have is the rear window. I heard from a few guys that Lexan works pretty good. For now it's ski goggles.

Sorry, no pics....But, headlights are in and dash is all back together. Anyone going to Wheaton car show Friday night or Buona Beef/Voodoo's car show in Itasca on Sat night???? We are gonna try and make both, our debut shows if everything goes our way.

You should make the trip to Hot Rod Chassis & Cycle's Swap meet on Sunday. It's one of the best around

Have you considered going to the Hunnert Car Pileup? Ask the Czars about that one too...

If you do a search here for "Garage Days" or posts by Django, it will pop up with all the details.

just to let some of you know.that all those barris cars from back in the day were not as low as the looked.george first use to pack like 5-8 guys in the cars to get it lower for his pictures.then he started using bricks and what ever was handy and heavy.the only reason i know this is cause i worked for a guy who use to hang out at there shop.he also had them do his 41 chevy.dick told me that george did the paint on it and he took forever making sure it was straight and very smooth.heres a link of his chevy.

Sorry we missed you guys!! Missed Voodoo's gig. Could not go over 4 miles without the 51 overheating. Limped it to my Dads house in Glen Ellyn (4 miles from home). Let her cool down and went to Lombards show that was only 3 miles from Pops house. Need a radiator. Its all plugged up.

get the radiator boiled out and tested before you look for a replacement. The stock radiator kept my 50 cool with a 235 and my wife's 51 cool with a hopped up 235.

A few pics of the Winfield car show. Small show but a great night to be out. Also can carry beer and cocktails from Johns pub around the show...in plastic cups of course.

Well, since there is no need to have the engine rebuilt (Cause someone else footed the bill on it). I started to make it look pretty again. I went with the 54 color scheme cause the engine is a 54. I like the blue flame six decals and color better than the grey 51 color. Anyway.......here are some pics. The blue looks a bit lighter in color from the flash.....
