I just found and bought this small block chevy intake in a old mans barn, he didnt know anything about it and niether do I. Its obviously made for racing because there is no place to put a thermostat. And the carbs are at an extreme angle. Who made this because there are No names on it anywhere, I was told that it might be one of only a few cast but thats all I know.
may be a creitz manifold. I had a dual quad manifold that I sold to a guy here on the hamb......I know they hade a trip setups too. some of these were not labeled. That'd be my first guess from what I see here.....
I agree with it being a boat manifold. Most had some type of provissions for circulating bay water or whatever hence no thermostat housing on the manifold. I seen several of these with the steep carb angle to accomodate the inboard prop drive. Possibly Mercury Marine?
So from what Ive read so far we have all determined that this is most likely a Creitz boat manifold.....like a drag boat from the late 50's? Any pictures of this intake on old race boats or anything???
Nah.... a cruiser/runabout type most likely. Some of the class racing/regatta type stuff may have been running triples. Some OEM's also put triples on....like some the Hercules in-line six cylinders came through with three carbs in some of the 40's vintage Chris-Crafts. The boat drag stuff came on later and were using blowers and injection pretty quickly. Search APBA and other vintage race and hydroplane sites for pics.
