Actually there was. When you went to the border in Louisiana you could drink at 18 and see the blacks doing real soul or rythm. Elvis, Ricky, and Pat Boone just translated that for blue hairs.

31 years. And for some, it's one of those "remember where you were and what you were doing" events when you heard the news.

And basicly, no one really knew about that music. Elvis's popularity caused people to search for the source of his sound. Also, as a child, Elvis used to hang out at a Baptist church where he lived. That was also an inspiration for him. What I wrote is a quote by John Lennon. A singer from England. Not that he knew much about music.:D

I know Elvis is dead, Lisa Marie married or at least dated a black/white child molester, gay pop star who has a chimp for a best friend....I think Elvis would have protested this issue....YA THINK!!

I miss the King. As a young lad, my bedtime on Sunday nights was 9 o'clock sharp, but if the king was on I got to stay up until 10 o'clock. Elvis still rocks.

He just got tired of the music business...wanted a more "normal" life, so he just "left the building" all on his own.

First he tried his talents as a gynecologist

In all seriousness...long live the King

Elvis most likely saw more female bottoms than a lot of gyneologist :D

^^ might be time to update to a flat screen

I remember when Elvis died and I was thinking to myself that I kinda thought he was already dead and was surprised to hear he wasn't apparently, or maybe not?

He acting was terrible and I am not sure his music was really much better, those late 60's early 70's jump suits were atrocious and to top it off Graceland is pretty awful. But, still, he was the 'King' and did get a lot of booty.

I loved his acting. His movies are some of his best work. Some just aren't able to appreciate real art.

Just a step below the Godfather just as Graceland is just a step under Falling Water.

I was waiting for my folks to get back from buying a new television and when they got home my dad asked me if I had heard that Elvis had died?

    That's how I remember it.

Wrong, man-who-wasn't-there-and-couldn't-possibly-know, he translated it for teenagers. It was the punk of the day only every kid liked it, not just one clique...and every adult hated it.

He didn't just adapt previous R'n'B music... he combined R'n'B with country music to create what later became known as Rockbilly. Ever heard of it?

The man had a voice. Listen to some of his later gospel albums. If those don't move you your already dead.
