Went to The Kiltie in Oconomowoc, WI last night with the wife in our 55 Pontiac. Parked right in front where all of the 18 year old car hops in their very short skirts/shorts thingys place and pick up the orders. So this one tall leggy blonde car hop bends over to stick her head in the window and take our order. Her eyes got kinda big and she says "WOW, you really have a big........steering wheel!":D Good thing we didn't have any ice cream yet or I would have choked.

    I have alot of favorites.

Cozy Inn (thanks Paul!) in Salina KS
Star Drive-In in Massachusetts is really good.

    And here's another:

    Harry's Place in Colchester Connecticut:

  9. I remember the one from Napa growing up there in the '70s. The real original $6 burger except they were around $3.50 back then. Good stuff!

God I miss the habit too. Used to eat there when I lived in Santa Barbara all the time. The one downtown, was it off Milpas? And one out in Goleta too. Man, I'm all hungry now after reading this thread right before lunch.

For me, here in Indiana, it would be "Arnolds" up in Decatur, IN. But I'm movin back to Charlotte, NC so I'd have to agree on "The Penguin". And if the line is too long...which is often the case...it's off to "South 21"!! Like Chuck Berry said, "I'm sooo glad I'm livin' in the USA!!!!"

That depends on the crew, The guys really don't seem to listen where as the girls when they work seem to make it just how you like it. ;) Must be a competitive thing,:D. Their best location was their 1st location in Baldwin Pk.. Someone has got to get them to open it again.

Oh Ya! I like that place too! That place has been around so long that Dashiel Hammett included it in one of his Sam Spade books. Forget which one though…

Was that just off the 10? to the north, and the training center just down the block on the other side of the 10?
Two little shacks with a drive-thru, thru the middle?

  26. Miller's on Michigan Ave. near Telegraph in Dearborn Mi. is just about as good as it gets for a ground round, fries and a beer. No frills - just good.
    Sorry, no photo.

  27. Thanks, very cool ! nice to see alot of the small Mom & Pops are still around, again sorry some aren't around any longer. I just remembered the Mount Tahoma Diner that sat down around the corner from MT Tahoma High school , which is now a little corner store.
