I know the feeling you got on the whole deal it sounds alot like mine. Build it and enjoy the hell out of it. Way to go!
hey dude, you sell the "a" coupe in l'ville? make it home ok with the truck? i hope ya did both. good luck with the coupe. maybe you can drive it to the ville next year.bruce
great score they sure are getting harder to find . mines chopped 3 1/2 , and the opening in the middle of the door glass is 9 1/2 inches I like um chopped and channeled If I were to build a new frame and channel a 32 or if it needed a new floor I would build it out of 2x4 tubing and then graft 32 rails from the toe kicks forward that will give you 2 inches more room in your floor height check this site out deuceslimited.com
Didnt have any luck with the model a had to bring it home and put it on eBay, the guys supposed to be picking it up in a couple days. Despite the problems with the truck on the way up, it actually did pretty good coming home Im glad this thread came back up Ive really been trying to figure out what to do with it. I cant decide if I should restore this back to how it was probably first intended to be, or to build it how I want. When I bought it, I didnt care at all about what had been done to it, I just figured I would undo what ever I didnt like. I understand the importance of trying to preserve an old hot rod, but I dont have a lot of money, and I really wanted to build my 32 coupe rather than restore someone elses (if that makes sense). Im not exactly rollin in the money and I dont know if I will ever be able to get another 32 to build the way I want to, so I figure I only have one shot at building a 32 coupe a big thing is the doors, I can appreciate the significance of it and that it was typical of a late 50s east coast hot rod, but If I was building my 32 I would really rather the full doors, but I still wonder if it is the right decision to change them or not. Any opinions/advice would be appreciated
Casey... thanks for the measurement looks like mine is chopped about 2 ½" or 2 ¾" then. Thats actually what I had decided I was going to do on the frame I cant afford a 32 frame and I already have a 2x4 frame from bob bleed that he built for my model a. So I figured the best option considering what I have to work with was to use that frame from the firewall-back, and then get ASC rails from the firewall-forward and put the two together Then I have the adjustability and all the advantages of the bleed frame in the rear and the looks of the 32 frame from the firewall forward bob will probably hate me for cutting up his frame though, haha
build it your way. The car has no significance, historical or otherwise. So, there really is nothing to preserve. Looks like 3 or 4 different build styles were started, not completed and none of the modifications are worth preserving. Some old hot rods with poor engineering, crude workmanship and hack body work shouldn't be preserved, especially a 32.
I never have been a fan of that shorting of the doors but that`s something you could change after it`s a driver sell that A with the frame , build a new frame to fit the car right beat those tail light`s flat !!! and just make it move under it`s own power for now there's nothing like driving a 32 coupe oh yea never sell your 32 !!!!! bring it down to the 32nd deuce reunion In kerrville Texas if ya can
