Not a big deal to drop the LS1 into that bay. The transmission is a 4L65 E which is normally used in a Silverado truck.
The computer needs a bit of tweeking but I got mine set up at Street and Performance.
They have a guy in FLa that does their stuff.

I easily get 24mpg all the time (swear to God) at 65 mph on my trips. I'm running a 3.55 9" Ford Butt. The car unoffically turns high 13's at 101mph.
Big thing here is the weight savings.
We started with a 4400 lb car and now weighs 3900 lbs.
I'm so glad I went with a light weight small block. It's got gobs of power and great gas mileage and I run it on regular.
One other Item would be the headers....They are tri Y style and perfect for mid RPM torque.
(big torque boost at mid RPM's and lower max hp at high RPM's) Perfect for automatics.
Be prepared to be tared and feathered at car shows when people see your engine swap.
Some say it's worse than running a Ford mill in a GM body. LOL

My as built site is at dogtagsvette.5u.com
Hope there's something there you can use.

    Best,
    Dogtag

  3. a couple of my new goodies and my old 6x2 ready for the rebuilt tops that i'll hopefully have on this weekend. but my rebuild just hit a huge snag so who knows. i need help!

i'm hopefully going to have it painted up and running with all the goodies this weekend.

    Dogtag,

Thanks for the info on the LS1 swap, I might just go that route instead of a BB. I sure could use the higher mpg.:D

As for getting tarred and feather, I'm past that stagee in my life. Chevy in a Ford?? I get brow beat everytime someone notices I have a SBC in my Plymouth. Blasphemy, they say! :D:D

Maybe, but a helluva lot cheaper to maintain than some Mopar's I've had over the years.:D

This 1949 Olds 88 coupe is sporting some 1950 parts & that ain't all it's sitting on a Buick Grand National frame along with the Grand National turbo charged 6 cylinder Buick - this car really handles & hauls ass

It turned in the 11's - 119 mph in the 1/4 & high 10's 135 mph The car has raced in different parts of the USA including BIR in Mn

Thanks. I really went through a lot with that car in the 14-15 years I owned it. Just sold it a few months ago.

bought it in 04, almost stock, but with the louvered hood.
had to fix the engine, lowered it and flaked it:) I´m happy

    Great classic Olds guys.

I have a 2000 Olds Bravada; I wonder if we should hang onto it. You never know what will be valuable down the road. Some of the auctions surprise me now.
