Saturday August 30th. I went there last year and it was a nice day. Not enough nitro to get my fix, but this year I think they have 3 or 4 nitro cars (restored Moby Dick is one I think). I hear the new owners paved the track!
It needed some new paving for sure, especially the shutdown. Do they still have the cow patties nationals?
The return road is Re-paved all the way from the big end on the north side to the bathrooms on the south side. They have score boards, the first 300' have been ground recently, and yes they still have the Cowpasture Reunion sans the actual Cow Patties LOL. Here is a link to the page with info about the Reunion and other stuff http://www.ardmoreraceway.com/
Might be cowpatties, but at least there is a LOT of shutdown room at Ardmore! Unlike some strips that "T" at a state highway!!!
Come run with the central state gassers at this race in the pre 59' door car class........................several of us are going to be there , should be a good day for sure,
My understanding is Jungle Jim's camaro flopper will be there too. Not sure it will make a pass or not.
I plan to be there in the Falcon ,since i missed the HAMB DRAGS .I need to get some racing out of my system. Is this track still a 1/4 ? I used to race my 67 Malibu there in 1990 when i was 16 ,havent been there since...
The actual "cow patties" are gone. I haven't seen a cow out there in a while. From what I understand, it is a "BYOCP" event. (Bring Your Own Cow Patty)
we will be there for sure racing and havin a blast as usual! Tulsa gassers should be there too helping cultivate what could be a great annual event for all!
Doc - you going to go? You stood me up at the silly 'Hooped-Up' show in Deep Ellum 2-weeks ago.......... you dog.
I'm planning on being there as well. I went last year and had fun. I hope to have even more fun this year.
as for the gasser class we are running 1/8th mile so you can stop with drum brakes, several 10 second cars, and we will bracket them with a 4.0 pro tree ..............starting time trials about 11am be there............
The Scorpion VI and the Gizzle Hopper will be there smelling the place up with nitro fumes. Plus Ed Dear will have his old front motored BBC fueler there. Not sure about the rest.
most of the gassers are meeting in purcell for breakfast sat morning about 8.30 am be there if you can .............
This is gonna be fun, but my sedan is running out of time to get there. We will see Either way we are headed out around 8 from Dallas
"I also hear that the Tex Timing Assoc guys are supposed to be there." It's all true. Some of the fuel altereds and front engined dragsters that run with the TTA are coming up for the festivities. We're looking forward to it. Ed Miller TTA
i got a call this morning from one of them and that is what he said too, thats great news.... they are fun to watch ...
