with all of the flamed dump trucks, tow trucks and mini trucks in the last 5 years, i ask, are flames dead in hotrodding?
There are still some nice flame jobs out there, I think (feel free to disagree) it's a little bit cliche.. But if I ever get my hands on that A-bone I'm dreaming about, I have thought about doing a flamed paint job on it. I still think they're rad, if a little cliche.
a traditional flame is always in, like striping, especially red on black i think we get tired of them because they seem to show up on so many other vehicles and over done oh, they also look good on dog scarfs
Flames are like the color "black" they are always in, they just have thier highs and lows, but believe me they will always be.
No, but I wish they'd go away for a while. I knew I was tired of flames several years ago when I saw some purple ones on a silver VW Jetta.
They are rediscovered by every generation and then are declared officially "traditional" and are renewed. They have been around for approximately 60 years, do I don't think they are going away. The fun is to do your own design on your special car and then stand back and say. "yeah, that's what I was talking about."
As long as the are traditional in style,,,meaning the right colors,,,pink and electric lime green flames suck even if the are paint in the old style traditional look. HRP
I'm with Muttley on this one. I am tired of sticker anythings unless they are the Thrush woodpecker or some hop up parts on your ride. Anything that is an initial is stupid unless it is STP! I'm sick of RT, SRT, RTS, SS, XLS, or whatever the ricers and faux mucle cars are puting on their rides these days. Well. If you want to put HAMB on your car, I'm cool with that!
It's not dead, it has been overdone lately, and people are getting tired of them. But if you get a really nice flame job on a really nice car it still looks good. The problem with popular thing is that everyone does them on everything.... if we just wait for a while, most of the people get tired of them, even the common crowd, and then we'll propably have a flame comeback! But it can take time.... I guess it is the same that happened with red wheels
Mine have been on there for 8 year's now and have load's of road rash but I love em'still, I like trad Rod Powell style flame's Cheer's. DAVE.
I think they may be overdone at the moment but they are still cool. Like everything else I suppose it goes in waves. I don't think flames will ever really go out of style though.
As a trend, they come and go.....if done right however, they always look good. -Lee Atomic Radio www.atomicpinup.com
