Here is another Good point, The Nordic Fox won't be there next year,
The Primer Nats will. Joe has helped us out a great deal with the Broiler,so this would be a perfect send off.
I have no idea what it costs to get in there (Primer Nats)? Make the drive to Ventura on Friday Hang out all day. Spend part of Sat there and do the 1-1/2hr drive down to the Fox and grab a Giant HAM(B) steak (PM Burny about em, They're huge!) and pay your respects to it because it won't be there the next day! Probably will be after 4pm anyhow.

It's a great building, The service was great, Joe is very bummed, All he needs is 19k to make it to the end of the year. If we had 32 people @ $500 a pop that would keep em alive.

Heck, someone running for president just had a dinner in Beverly Hills for $1k a plate last eve and it isn't even going to saving a building or a citizens business:confused:.
Wish that we could do that for Joe/Jane, Hey is there any Rich Guys here on the HAMB?:D.

Call Joe @ the Nordic Fox-10924 Paramount Boulevard Downey, CA 90241. (562) 869-1414 phone ... Maybe it's not too late to save it. Heck Adriene/John would throw in $500.00 as I would too. That would make $1100.00 with your C-note Kent.:D.

By the way, There is more good new on the Broiler front. I saw the renderings of the build with more details added. Greenery, Parking areas and that fantastic signage!

I have been asked to not post them when I do receive a copy because they have to go through approval yet and some things could change, so we won't post them until the city gives us the Green Light!.........

I will say that history and buidings can repeat themselves if given the proper guidance.
Jim and I discussed the Cruise Nite(s). He is pretty excited about giving us a place to come relive some memories as well do business. There will be a employees/construction workers and Bob's management dress rehearsal pre-openning bash. We discussed cars/carhops.

What I'd like to take back to him is a answer to a question that many other people have asked me. "when he builds it, will they come? " I say whole heartedly YES! who do you guys say????????

I'd be happy to map out a new Ghost Cruise to the Broiler. It should go without saying that many of us will support gatherings weekly there.

Adriene went with John her partner and phiotographed the entire interior as is now. If we can help em just let me know, I feel that this should be on the Nordic Fox Closing post. but it seems to be seen better here.

I'll forgo the Primer Nats once again (It seems like that show always lands on things of importance to me) so I can have this lil cruise for the Nordic Fox. Adriene & I are open to ideas on how to save him.

When we are ready, I'll be tapping you on the shoulder for a "Ghost Risen Cruise" to the Broiler or "Ghost No More" cruise.
I am glad, c'mon guys, throw some input in.

    Great!
Wait till it is rebuilt, you'll dig it! Nothing like this has ever been saved that I am aware of. It will be posted when it is completed.
Right now it is just getting all of the ducks in a row. The contractor and crew are eagerly awaiting. Plans are going through plan ck.
    Thanx 4 swinging on by.

I don't know if this has already been posted here or not, but there was a 4 or 6 page full-color article on the cruise in the French magazine NITRO back in 1988 or 1989. I may still have the copy somewhere.

I would love to see that article from the late 80's..I used to go there for the cruise night in my 65 Plymouth Belvedere....

Talked to the old man and yes that is his '63 Plymouth shown in that article. The chrome rims and baby moons are off the car and in our shop.
If they reopen Harveys we will have to go back and get a photo with the 63 just like the original article..way cool:D

Post it when you get a chance Jerry would love to see the spread.

Cut, I reference that 63 copy whenever I can, Great that you have a copy

Ramzoom, I hope that's the car, It states in the article that about 9pm the place would just jump w/action. $10 mil worth of cars then!
Wonder what it equates to nowadays:confused:.

    Searcher, we need that Menu;)

The build,= Jim's working on West Covina now and we have been in contact with him weekly. The rendering is complete and even has a few cars in it.
The canopy will be slightly longer than what the Architect would have liked (Thanx A.) and we get an additional car hop spot,(Use em guys when it's open,Jim will hold me to it).

We found much of the corrrect era tile, a match for the terazzo and what appears to be original Harvey's colors, (Still wish that we had color pics).
From the corner of Firestone Bl & PL. it will look like 1958 Harvey's albeit a Bob's. The rear will mostly look the same, but a smaller lot than the 300+ capacity that it once had, (but didn't get used till a good cruise night) will be in place.

The west side will have the drive thru for those soccer moms that cannot wait or be saddled down dealing with the kiddies in the SUV-Woody.
Of course the west side of the canopy will no longer exist, but the building will not look unfinished. It will contain elements of the boomerang style canopy and (if ever business warrants its replacement)can be added back on in its entirety.

That is what really takes so long, cuz every little change has to go through civil engineering, building & planning. In other words, lots of red tape.
Was hoping that it would be done by Jan, Looking more like spring.
Good things though come to those who wait. Building materials have gone down about 15-20%.

Sorry that I didn't see this sooner, PC's giving me fits!
