DEUCE OF SPADES TRAILER and latest updates

With the insanely busy filming schedule I have been having since April, I have not been able to post. But I know many of you have been wondering where my hotrod film is at, so here are the latest news, in a nutt shell.

When I say I am going to do something, I DO IT and so the film is going very strong. I am shooting for a target release date of Spring 2009.

Production started around April 15th, right after I completed my "test" short film (The park bench). We have been filming every week-end without fail since. I decided to start filming the 50's flashback scenes first and the flasbacks constitute about 65% of the film. As of today I am 85% done with all the flashbacks. I have over one full hour worth of period scenes, filmed, edited and entirely completed, (yes, even with soundtrack).



The film is exceeding all my hopes and expectations. I was very blessed to find a cast of very talented, and hard core dedicated young actors who fell head over heels in love with the project. I was also blessed to have hard core fans amongst car owners, location owners and volunteers, and they all donated (cars, planes, vintage gas station, period correct locations, work, time, etc...) to help make the film happen on a ZERO budget. The production value of DEUCE OF SPADES is truly very high.

Everything is falling into place, and we are knocking the scenes out, one by one. This has truly been the most challenging thing I have ever undertaken, but also the most amazingling rewarding and awesome.

I could not think of anything I want to do more than filming the old jalopies and bringing that era back to life.

ON SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH I will attempt to recreate the Saugus Drasgtrip, as it may have looked on a sunny August 1955 summer day.

ANY CAR OWNERS ABLE TO BRING THEIR CAR TO THE SHOOT - please contact me ASAP. We need hotrods and stock car, period correct, or close to period correct 1955 or ealier.

You will be the only person to handle your car, and the cars will be parked (no driving involved). The shoot is to take place on private land, on a donated private landing strip located a few miles away from were the Saugus dragstrip once stood.

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS HORTROD FILM and volunteer your jalopies if you have any that will fit the bill. This is a one day shoot. It is going to be an amazing sight!!!!! Also, all car owners will get a chance to introduce their cars on screen, which will be part of the Special DVD features "The cars of Deuce of Spades". I aim for the audience to be able to refer to that section to find out what each car in the film is and who it belongs to, a cool idea I had a few months back which I have been implementing religiously.

You have no idea! Read the blog and you'll see all the shit I have had to go through to get this done. If it wasn't for my passion for this film and the jalopies, I would have given up a long time ago!! This is a three year commitment spent working on the film 24/7. I basically have no life, no money and have been going without sleep, and sometimes without food while filming. It's been rough, but I'm loving every minute of it!

To be honest, I was apprehensive about this when I read the first post ages ago (made me think of Grease etc when they try to mimic the 50's and it ends up being a neon lighted, betty booped, silk jacket wearing piss take!!), even now the name kind of sticks with me, phonetically its just a little messy BUT after checking out the trailer - I love it!!

Dirty, earthy, beautiful and realistic! The cinematography is great, awesome cars and clothes, I cant wait to see it finished. Have you got an international distributor set up - I would love to help organise a drive-in screening night in Australia, it would be a hit! Great work

Man this is freakin awsum. How do you find a stopping point on a project like this? Do you leave room for a sequel? Of course then it wouldn't be one of a kind like it looks like it will be. Hey my wife might even enjoy watching this car flick with me if I can get her started on it. Might have to break out the chains!

I showed some footage to three girls who know nothing about cars and they simply creamed their panties.

Trust me, you will have no problem having your gals watch the film. In fact you might have a hard time getting to stop watching it over and over again LOL .

the cinematography does look great, and thanks for going through all the trouble to try and keep in the period, even with a tight budget!

The scene racing through the groves looks cool, the cop pissing on his leg is classic.
and the guy smoking a cigarette at the gas station is the most hardcore of all.

 

Looks like the waiting will be well worth it.

It'll be Hollywood next for you Faith.

The teasers are excellent. And your burnout's pretty damn good too.
