I'm a little behind on posting because of my crazy schedule over the past couple of weeks, but here's Hot Rod Week.

Goodguys hosts Hot Rod Week each year to kick off the West Coast Nationals in Pleasanton. It tours a few shops and collections for the four days leading up to the weekend's event.

What's funny is that pretty much all of the owners of these collections would get blasted on here by many as "goldchainers" even though they collect some of the most traditional and historically important hot rods on the planet. Thank god these "goldchainers" are into hot rods and not stamps or something. I'd die happy if I had 5% of some of these collections.

Day One: Well, I missed day one because I was flying back from Spoane.

Day Two: Three stops on Tuesday. First was Dennis Varni's SPeed Nymph Garage in San Jose. Dennis is one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet and, obviously, has incredible taste in everything hot rod.

I don't remember the names of the guys whose collection were the second and third stops, but they sure had cool stuff too.

    DAY THREE:

Two stops. First was Canepa Designs in Scotts Valley. They do a little of everything, but seem to specialize in restoring and maintaining vintage race cars. The upstairs museum is just amazing.

Then it was off to Don Orosco's place. If I win the lottery a few times, I'm buying his collection.

That coupe was built in 1950-something and has never been redone. Those are even the original tires!

DAY FOUR: Two stops. First was Moal's. The quality of work these guys do is simply astounding! Moal and the rest of his master craftsmen are great people.

I guess I missed the second stop.

Saw this soapbox racer get auctioned off at Barrett Jackson last year, very cool to see it as part of such a great collection.

This looks like one of the best Hot Rod Week's yet! I'm sorry I missed it.

Did anyone get pictures from the first two days? I would really like to see Al's place.

  23. Wow thanks for posting the pix KIRK...killer stuff!

  24. Nothing to see at Al's place ... just a bunch of old HEMI crap he bought from me ... oh ... and this real bitchin' '32 RPU that he won the "Real Rod Nats" pick with at last weekend's GG West Coast Nats ;) :D

Actually, I'd like to see pics of his garage too! ... and btw, I love your (old) car ... I admired it here on the HAMB ... but it's even better looking in person!
