CHICKEN!!!! What's goin on mang? Gotta love the shots of the BigT-meister in the roadster. LOL

(sing it with me ala Tommy Boy - style)

Big guy in a lit-tle car. Big guy in a lit-tle car. LOL

  2. This place is cool.

Great start everyone. Detroit Dino,... love those paintings!

SeanB, feed us more! That drawing is Grrrrrrrrreat!

Okay, I'm some body who can appreciate a lot of cars from an aesthetic point of view. Certain cars from nearly every decade has models I can appreciate.
Hot Rods, traditional hot rods, for a host of reasons, exemplify the purity, artistry
and all out raw power of the automotive hobby.
I also like muscle cars, in their 'direct from the factory' form. Little tweaks here and there are Okay but there's a point when enough is enough.

Witness, "The Air Stopper" (I'm soooo sick of Cowl Induction hoods)

Hot Rod stuff still to come. Maybe on Friday even...

Just today, I went back to work on my "Teahupoo" Tiki. I named it after the big wave spot in Tahiti (picture below of Laird Hamiltons epic wave). It's real name is Ku, he is mostly known as the Tiki of War, but also a protector, and sometimes credited as the God of Fishing and Farming.

I decided to carve Ku after watching "Riding Giants" for the hundredth time. (check it out, really amazing). These guys are practically charging into battle and riding waves that have taken lives before them. I imagine this is what you face would look like if you actually had the skill and balls to surf a place like that.(Youtube it if you can)

I carved it and left it in wax form for about 3 months or so. When I finally cast it, the bottom had a huge chunk missing on one side which had to be rebuilt and shaped in metal. (I should have been taking photo's back then)
What I ended up with was a 120gram solid chunk of silver. It was so big and thick that I couldn't get a good wax out of it.

I've dug out the back side and trimmed it down to about 99grams. I think I'll try molding it, then see where I'm at. My guess is that it will reproduce somewhere around 85-90 grams. I'm ready to get back to wax form to play with it again. Really didn't know much when I first carved this baby. I plan for this to be available as either a pendant or a ring.

    here's where I stopped today.

I appreciate where you guys are coming from but I'm throwing in my two cents on cowl induction hoods...

Cowl induction hoods = LOTS of undisturbed, cool fresh air.

LOTS of undisturbed, cool fresh air = more horsepower.

More horsepower = first across the finish line.

First across the finish line = getting laid.

    Getting laid is good.

    I LIKE cowl induction hoods.

Yes it is! I usually have to explain it when some one asks then I get a shrug...kinda like when you quote a favorite line from a movie that nobody gets. From "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"..Sundance to the mine owner in Bolivia after he misses a pistol shot at a tin can "Can I move?", Butch says "let him move, Okay, just let him move!", Sundance wheels around and hits the can with the last 5 shots...see I told 'ya...

Pacheco - Thanks for the kind words - I've been diggin' your clean perfectly proportioned pieces - could you shed a little light on your technique? Like what stage are they scanned - as sketches or finished art?
Zombie - The detail blows my mind!! Nice one Mate!

CraigR - they are finished inked pieces...I scan them in and clean up places that plugged or are perfectly straight. I have a gallery at home and frame my original pen & inks.
    Thanks

here's our "hottest" set of flames!

Se the 33 roadster on the right? It buned to the ground in Allowats shop fire. I was able to get the MELTED Du-val windshield and wade got the head light with what was left of the flame job! This pic doesn't show it, but the windshield is warpped pratty bad and it melted around the steering colum!

    Of course not.

Tiki imagery has been a part of Hot Rod and Custom culture for a long time......a very long time....and it is most welcome.
    Your work is beautiful man.

As STATED..... Just trying to keep the Friday art show clean and streamlined. Novice or pro.... I highly recommend posting your work whether is be drawings,photographs,sculpture,paintings,striping.etc.etc.etc.
What we do ask..... is it to be AUTOMOTIVE-RELATED and better yet......HOT ROD or CUSTOM inspired.

If that is too complicated..... just pm me and we can discuss this further.

    Nice Biff.

Got to love a '54 Chevy truck with a boy and his dog and grandma's quilt. Love the little red wagon in the back as well. Just need a Coke and it could be a Norman Rockwell! If that ain't where I grew up...I was about that age when my mom brought home her '54 that I now have!
