I saw this one on HAMB and I know MIGHTY has one. Any more?

Also I hear they made less of the Lincolns?

    Educate me.

337 flathead and Hydramatic (i.e. GM) trans in most, some had a 3 speed column shift (49-50 only)

I don't have much info on any customs, (There aren't many) but if you would like info about the production models (5 different bodies) , let me know.

  5. a friend of mine just bought a 49 2 door cosmopolitan. will 49-51 merc skirts fit on the cosmo?also, whats the best way to put a floor shifter in it? it's a 3 speed.

I don't know if merc skirts will fit a cosmo, as they have a completely unique body. Merc skirts will fit "Baby Lincoln/Lido" cars for sure. They are the same from the A pillar back as a merc.

    do you have any pictures?

This one is a friend of mine here on Long Island....I've had it for sale in the cl***ifieds....He still wants to sell

  8. According to my spooter's guide; '49 first year for the big flathead8, the Cosmo's had a one piece windshield, standard Lincoln shared the two piece with Merc, the '49 standard Lincoln coupe cost $2527! now you know why there aren't many.

I love the long nose on the 49-51 lincoln. And the stock grilles/headlights looks so good on those cars.

  11. I have a '49 Lincoln coupe.
Brought it over to New Zealand from Miami in feb this year.
I have taken the body off the ch***is and intend
doing a 4 to 5 inch chop and dropping it as low as I can.
    No airbags here though.
I have put XJ6 Jag rear end in and also XJ6 front end.
Power rack steering, discs all round.
I am amazed at how close the Lincoln measurements are
to the Jag ones. I think Jag must have measured the Lincoln
    before designing the jag... lol
I have removed the 337 BB flattie & GM four stage auto and
will be dropping a 500 inch caddy motor in.

I have progress pics up at: http://picasaweb.google.com/vicki.budgeting/My49LincolnCoupeBuild#

  13. Here's mine...

I had it for sale in the cl***ifieds, traded it, trade fell through... still got it.
Now I'm thinking about keeping it. Never know...

The green Lincoln is the first one of it's kind that's cool to me. I've never been able to warm up to the Lincoln front grille and light bezels. Very cool indeed.....................

It is real. In '49 they supposedly made it in the baby Lincoln and the Mercury. I have never seen the Mercury.:)

If you are referring to the Model 73 fastback. It appears that 1949 was the only year that they were made.:):D

Hey Bob, the Lincoln is listed in 49 only and the Merc is not in the 49 list at all, so guess you'll have to make one! Unfortunately my references have no actual production numbers for Lincolns that year.
