A front rails Z'd 3" at the front, 390 FE engine with a T5 trans. Got the front end from Riley's awsome customer service and awsome parts!

Everything is just in for mock up right now even the X member. It will be smoothed and filled with lightning holes.

Man youve got a fine start there. Nice frame mods. 390 and 5 gears will go like hell. You going to chop it?

Not sure on the chop yet going to see what it looks like on the ground first. Got a Franklin Q/C for the rear also.

I love FE motors. How hard was it to hook up the T5 to the 390? I would love to run that combo.

Shifter looks straight up. Chevy Camaro bellhousing has the 15' tilt. Fords are straight up.

  10. I'm leaning toward a 27 roadster. Pardon my TOTAL ignorance, but is that a 27 frame ? I am considering a 32 frame, and strength is one of the reasons. However, a channeled 27 roadster is a CLASSIC, and was my "since-I-was-a-kid" all time favorite. Mistakes are expensive, and I don't want to make any...

This is a modified A frame. A 27 roadster on top of deuce rails is one of the all time classic combinations, there is a recent thread of a HAMBER who just got one from the 60's on the road again. My 2 bits, if you are going to channel the roadster, use an A frame, or a custom frame, like Riley Auto, a HAMB vendor. Deuce frames are very pretty exposed and more expensive.

I will also say that if you decide to channel your roadster over deuce rails, you will have a stronger frame, and you will have the great sweep, wheelbase help. Roadster channeled over deuce rails, pretty fine.

I found a reference for you. May 1962 Rod & Custom, Rod Test on Gary Heliker's 26 roadster channeled over deuce rails. Car is 100% perfect even today.

The front rails are Model A. The rest is 2x3 box tubing the X member is 2x3 cut in half then notched to get the bends. I didn't want to do the traditional cross style crossmembers just to be difrent I guess. The T5 is a Ford unit the shifter is titled in that pick because the engine is still hanging from the hoist. Building the front cover into mounts for the engine. They sell a conversion bellhousing for FE to T-5 and Rileys even has an adapter plate from FE bellhousing to T5.

This body has 0 rot at the bottom the sub rails were mint. But as cool as they are unchanneled I wanted a channeled T so out came the grinder.
