They were dressed up in that and monkey masks and it was a take on the monkeys that they sent up in the early space program. I can't remember their name, but it was along those lines. Hot as hell too to be in that getup!

  4. Well, I'm finally up to posting some pics, but I'll go the lazy route and put in a link to my Photobucket account...

I just want to thank the Starlight Drive-in and the Road Kings for hosting tis week end, they really stepped up this year out did themselves. The show was huge, we got there a little late, around 1:00 and the lots were full and we were scrambling to find some parking spots. I can't imagine this show being any better, well maybe if they could schedule some cooler weather...

I also want to thank the SFCC, you guys and gals rock. You did it up right and never failed to invite us over for some food or drink(s). The breakfast was great, I hope to catch up with y'all at one of Brad's swap meets later this year.

And I almost forgot, a very special thank you to whoever it was that put the "Dixie Fried" fender cover in my car. I didn't find it until Sunday when I was packing up to leave. It will be put to use, soon...

My buddies Vic, Don, Art and I were up from Tampa and enjoyed the show on Saturday. We left Fri morn and stayed at my place in Dublin Ga. that night. Sat morn we cruised up to Atlanta for the show and had a blast, even if it was a tad on the warm side. Then it was up to Helen Ga to visit a relative and stay the night. We figure about a 1300 mile round trip when we were all said and done. Vic had his `53 Panel truck and I was in my `41 Coupe. The vehicles did real well especially when you consider we were driving with the MANIACS on I16 and I75. What happened to courtesy behind the wheel? I gotta tell you our Flatheads have no trouble keeping up with modern vehicles it's the slowing down and stopping that gets your attention. They see two old cars running together, both of us trying to keep a safe distance from each other. No matter, it's vroom right in between us nose to tail NASCAR style. I mean really whats up with that? Is everyone really that mind numbed and in such a hurry? It was the weekend fer goshsakes!

My hats off to the Atlanta Road Kings for an awesome show. My third trip up and I'm never dissappointed. Seems like the hot rod scene is thriving up in your neck of the woods. Bravo to all the folks that put this together. See ya next year........

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who made it out the show on Sat. and Sun., As T-bone said earlier it was the largest turnout for the show ever and next year we want to top it so get to wrench’n. This show has grown from the 3 original Kings with ten cars to an amazing show with over 200 cars in attendance.

Some special thanks needs to be given:
    <O:p
Josh and Jill Mills: thanks for everything you do, the club and show would be nowhere without your efforts. We know this takes away from family time but the rewards are shared with the Road Kings family and the entire Hot Rod family here in the southeast.
    <O:p
Rob: Thanks for snapping hundreds of pics and being the professional photographer for the club at the show. Your work makes all of the cars look great, and helps my old ass remember the shows past.
    <O:p
Gene and Erin: Gene has done all the artwork for the shows and comes up with truly inspiring graphics every year. He spends countless hours and it shows. His wife brings a spread of food that is truly fit for a king or kings as the case may be.
    <O:p
Doug and Mark: Thanks for all your efforts and driving a ton of miles to get here.
    <O:p
Chad, Kenny, and Tommy: Thanks for making the parking so much better than any of the previous years. These guys showed that the bottle neck is getting the cars through the gate and not getting parked in the show area. An extra special thanks to Tommy for sitting out in the heat registering cars all day year after year. Even a hot GA day couldn’t snuff the rooster.
    <O:p
The rest of the Road Kings: There are no words to describe the effort the entire club puts into making this show the best it can be. I’m proud to consider myself part of this family. Big Jim thank you, thank you, thank you, for wrestling your club plaque away from the Speedo bandido (look for pics at theroadkings.com… In a few days), And to everyone that was not with the road kings this year due to family or personal reasons you were very much missed!

    <O:p
The Sock Fuckers: What can I say, you guys are great. You set up a tent area and were great hosts to everyone here on the Hamb and several others. Thanks for the friendly competition and know that your efforts are not unnoticed by the RK’s. CosmoMerc won best stocker and PBRmeASAP won longest haul, we just didn’t know he would take the award so literally. Dvanecek thanks for making us print special size shirts just for you.
    <O:p
This could go on forever so I will stop it here and just say thank you to all the clubs and individuals that make this show what it is.

I forgot to mention That over $200 dollars was raised by you guys for operation sand box. The Road Kings matched this donation and a total of $500 as well as some goodie bags were sent to this very worthy cause.

For those that don't know Operation Sandbox sends much needed items to our troops overseas.

Thanks to all of you who donated.

A Huge thanks to everyone serving or who has served our country. We will never forget your sacrifices.

I can't say anything that Troy didn't beat me to. Thanks to all who attended, bought a shirt, made a donation to Operation Sandbox, came up and said hi or busted our chops.

This morning I found a damp crusty sock in the back of my pickup, which one of you SFCC fellas are responsible??

Our photos to follow, including the already alluded to induction "ceremony" of Big Jim into RKCC.

Gotta slip in here and thank the Starlight and the Road Kings for putting on the show and most of all the Sock Fuckers for taking me under their wings even to the point of doing most of the unloading from my truck of my gear and beer, etc.
I got a bit overexerted and never did get around to look at all the cars, but they were first rate with lots of creativity demonstrated.
Next year I'll try to figure out some type of mini-bike or scooter or some such to help me get about, and get to see all the stuff!
Thanks to all for the great pix, me, I forgot the camera!
Next year the logistics are gonna take a lot of figuring for me as the Atalanta Motor Speedway is moving the Fall event to Labor Day weekend, with the big race on Sunday night. I seldom go to the race now called the Nationwide, originally the Sportsman race. But I have a reserved parking spot next to the fence and I ain't gonna give it up or miss the big race. Just have to start preparing earlier and turn more of the last minute stuff to my son and his family, leave Dixie Fried and go straight there, I guess! Gotta be some way for both!

BTW, the suede red Track T just happens to be mine, and it's listed for sale in the classifieds. Price has been drastically reduced to from $13,000 to $9,500.

Do you guys have an easy way of resizing the pix so that they are easier to put on the HAMB?

I had fun as always. Thanks for the photos as I never have any. To the Sock Fuckers it was great to meet you guys. And to the skins who jumped on me not so much.

  24. Well, I can't add a whole lot that hasn't been said. Thanks to the Road Kings for another great Dixie Fried. The show keeps getting better, bigger, more fun... I'm going to keep coming back.

Next year I'm getting the Long Haul, dammit. It was great driving Tudor's '46 this year (thanks again Josh), but I need to bring my shoebox down next time.

What a great time! We had four of us drive up from Jville and as always had a blast! The Road Kings are a great club to model after. Good folks who realy know to put on a show! Everything was super smooth from early entry to Pee Wees Big Adventure(the movie you gearheads) Thanks to Tommy and the boys for saving Chip and his 324 Olds powered model A a space with us. Like McAurthor said" I Shall Return" Dave out...

The Oddrods c.c. would like to take a moment To thank The Roadkings for another kickass show!A lot of people have no idea the amount of work that goes into a show this size and the amount of preparation it takes to make it a success. This year was incredible on all accounts from the bands, to the food ,to the amazing assortment of fine Vintage steel many cars of which were there for the first time. Glad to see people from other states come see how we do it in Atlanta,Ga!

Don't know if this is going to work but here is the induction "ceremony" of Big Jim into RKCC. by far the highlight of the entire show

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTUrx7MvCNM

If this doesn't work go to youtube and do a search for dixie fried. It's the 7th one down.
