Faith, my girl and I got a great vibe from the clips. This film is going to rock. As someone stated earlier, it's so cool that you let us HAMBers in on your project, but to see it finally blossum? AWESOME! It's going to be cool telling people, "I knew her when she started out!".

    You're going places, girl!

Ah so it was YOU who shipped me this awesome beer can? :) You see we put it to good use!! It is actually in TWO scenes :D and became Johnny's drink of choice while working on cars. I never did open it LOL. Thank you so much for sending it in!!

In the film you will also see license plates from 1956 donated also by a nice fellow hamber.

You will see the son of one hamber play little Johnny Callaway at age 7.

You will see quite a few cars from hambers as well. Including Tony's 50's Ford, his collection of vintage toys and Jimmy Lee's stock merc.

Also in the film, soundtrack from our fellow hamber's band "Hot Rod Hucksters". I actually have two of their tunes in the film. They don't ven know about this yet :)) hope they read this thread!!

Thank you all for believing in this film and helping out. I really appreciate it.

As for going places? The only place I am heading right now is THE POOR HOUSE. I am completely broke. :( My actors have been surviving on a peanutbutter and jelly sandwhich diet. It's pathetic. But none of them has ever complained once. That's how hard core dedicated to this project they all are. And all of them are now IN LOVE with hotrods and can't wait to find money to buy an old heap and fix it up. I guess it is contageous! :D

  3. I was too a little optimistic about the earlier threads about this movie, but It looks really awsome. I wished I lived a little closer.I would definitely help out with some of my hotrods. Cant wait to see the movie. Keep up the good work.

Awesome I can't wait and was going to ask who was playing the Blues Harp. I'll have to check out the Hot Rod Hucksters.

I only wish I lived in CA and had a Rod I could add to the dragstrip scene.

This looks like it will be my new favorite movie, moving the Worlds Fatest Indian to second place.

Looking forward to the updates and can't wait till spring!

It's amazing how many people are invovled behind the scenes with the movie. Yet all are doing it for nothing, spending their own time and money to make this movie happen. Keep up the good work.

The merc looks great in pics.

    Looking awesome!!
New magazine just launched in South Africa, that I am sure will be glad to give any publicity they can. I'll be sure to "explain" things to them if they don't;)

The harp music on the trailer was written by MARK HUMMEL , who is a Blues Award nominee . Yop, really!! He DONATED his tune and I might have more of his work in my film, since he generously offered. The tune was performed by another artist (so this version is a COVER of the original tune). The artist performing the cover is a local swing band I know from swing dancing, named FLAT TOP TOM. Flat Top Tom also wrote the tune that plays at the beginning of the JALOPY RACE trailer (teaser #2) "5, 500 or 5000". The harp sound has become a bit of a trademark for the film, I have fallen in love with it and it is a cool variation to the usual "rockabilly always associated with hotrods" formula. I wanted to break the mold a bit.

In the film you will also hear swing, boogie from the 40's / early 50's style, moody modern rock (my stuff) which fits beautifully with the more dramatic scenes of the film, and then also rockabilly (faster paced / happy scenes) as well as a few 50's sounding doowop and the likes. Finding doowop tunes has been very hard, near impossible, noone seems to write new doowop anymore. Unless you can afford to buy the license to use the old 50's tunes, (which is not an option for me. :() you cannot have doowop songs in your films .

SAMMY STRAY, who was signed in the fifties fell head over heels in love with the film and has donated all his songs. I am using two of his ballads in the film.

Sure would be nice to have one of two in the Saugus scene, even if they don't run. :) Can you help? We shoot on 09/27 on a privately owned airstrip.

She sure looks great in that scene! And sounds great too! I timed the sound of the driver revving up the engine once with the college jock touching bettie's arm as they pass by her. Added a lot of drama and tension to the scene :D.

Anyways, we are packing it up and taking off at 4Am tomorrow morning. heading out to the desert to film for 5 full nights. I have been running around all day, my head is spinning. There is SO MUCH to think about / plan and only one person to do it all (yours truly)...

Talk to you all when we return Monday!

Meanwhile, a couple more screengrabs for you all:

On the set: Johnny's hospital release

Gas station scene: taking a short breakfast break and hanging out with "my boys": Actor Tim McReynolds (JOHNNY CALLAWAY) sitting on the ground and actor Anthony Traina (Ohio's Cam Jammer "ZIP") standing next to me.

the hospital room I created and the medical team I put together and Tim, being goofy between takes.

The movie teasers are impressive. I like the transition from black and white to color and the view of the race with the apple tree in front. Great looking movie. I can't wait to see it.

One bad thing though. This movie will bring a whole new crowd into hot rodding. Those old parts are going to get even more expensive.

I wish you lots of success.

Rocking in the middle of the desert right now! (pun intended HA HA!!)

Able to access Internet on my 3G iphone (awesome little device!).

Found quarter mile straight road - no houses - no traffic - (it's a dead end)- paved - NO LINES ON IT :)) . Filmed quick street race between johnny and zip at sunset. Came out nice!

Zip's 34 nostalgia roadster boiled over and broke down on us. It was well over 100 degree out here, even at the end of the day.

My next shoots are all night THANK GOD!

Outstanding, professional looking production. This would kick ass at Sundance! Nice contrast to all of the artsy crap they show there.

  24. Don't know how it would fly at the annual street rodders drive in night in Sydney - it doesn't look like American Graffiti, and the hero hot rod looks like a hot rod.

Hey wait a minute, what would you do if your driver to you up to 265 degrees:confused: Shut down of course! She was a little pissed @ us but she was a trooper through and through! Mechanical fans are period but totally ineffective in 100 heat w/o a shroud..

She scared me when she didn't want to light, but as always, she has never let me down or ever had to come home on a hook. Just tests me a little. Don't all girls:confused:

BTW, Zip had a great zipping through the mountains both ways! He said it was the highllight of his day:D.

Back from an awesome 5 day shoot out in the desert!

We filmed all night, from sunset to sunrise. Always racing with the sun, but this time in reverse! The nights seemed to only last but a couple hours... Time flies when you're having fun !!

Will post some behind the scenes photos over the next few days!

Below: Johnny races with Fresno one last time.
