hey guys i was planning on running two upper link bars. just didnt get around to doing so yet. the pinion angle is set at neg 2 and stays at neg 2 through out the complete travel. to locate the axle side to side i m planning on running a watts link. i have the ic set right infront of the front axel about 8 inches up and 8 inches out for a neutral ride. also the rear clip is gusseted behind the lower bars you can not see it in the pics but its there. just to be a bit safer i may shear load gusset it as well. i over kill every thing i build and take into consideration that my life is at stake when driving it. when in doubt go stout!

as far as the progress of the car.i go through spells on the car. ill work on it every day for a week then let it sit for a week or so. regain my composer and stir up new ideas. its only been a few months i have been working on it im hoping by fall it will be road worthy. if not early next year. im not in a hurry. i m enjoying the build on this one. i already picked up the next project and have been collecting parts for that as well. i ll post some pics very soon...

the car was not and will not be a rat rod! it will have a nice paint job and be a finished product.

i really consider alot of rat rods to be very unsafe and rough vehicles. i have seen people weld nuts to 1 1/4 EMT and use them as 4 link bars! thats not the case here!

as far as getting a blow out. i have gotten into this already. the rims sit lower than the chassis. even with both wheels getting a blow out the frame will be higher.

i find it really amusing when people ask "what is the point or benefits of this car and its set up?"

yes it is a novalty and its different. but arent all the cars on this site a novalty and different. how often do you see a family going to get grocheries and taking the kids to school in a 30s car?

skottyknukkles, buddy.... some FANTASTIC and creative fabrication going on here! I see some great chassis work in this build and I also "sort of" see some great chassis work in this build. Keep up the good work, but could ya' check on your camera so I don't go blind following the build? :D

    Look forward to more! Cheers!

Not sure what kind of camera you're using, but mine will do what yours is doing if it's on the wrong setting. If you move it just even a hair the picture will come out like that. Just check your settings. Probably something silly.

i have a nikon coolpix L3. i think your right this thing has alot of damn settings. some even make colors look different shades. i screwed with it awhile back so i could take pictures with out using the flash. for some reason the flash makes every thing look very rough. it has black and white setting as well which is pretty cool. its my first decent digital. decent to me that is. also i would like to be able to focus this thing my self? any ideas?

tonights update the frame is notched for the drive shaft and i added a second upper bar to the rear making it a 4 link. taking a break from the rear of the car and moving on to the front again. i had a problem with the cross link aiming into the side of the frame. rather than heat the spindles i decided to tip them upward and make a compensation bracket. <center>

i also picked up a mopar steering box with intensions of making this car have cowl steering. at the moment im having second thoughts and would like some input on what every one else thinks ... cowl or frame mounted? the steering box is a bit nice to hide.

Give me the box, I have no problem hiding it! Lol.

Since you now have a parallel 4-link are you going to add a Panhard or Watts or Jacobs Ladder, or some other lateral locating device?

I thought that too but outside of the shiny paint the rest of us don't know what shape the car was actually in. He did say it was pretty well covered with oil and we have all seen some of these "restorations" that aren't all they appear to be from afar.

His, car, his money, not what we would do with either and lets leave it at that.

ha it would be cool to see some old photos. . . if you can rustle some up. im pretty much over the people who cant see cutting up a perfectly good car. i have peanuts into this project. less than a set of boyd coddington wheels of a glass 32. lol

i have come to the conclusion that on the site theres alot of people who dont know a damn thing and bust balls, and theres alot of people on here that know what they are talking about and are willing to help. im here to learn new things and make new friends. not get my balls busted over something i have a passion for.

    Go for the Cowl Steering.

I think Underslungs get static,in part, heat because the
magazine advertisers don't push the,so they must be "wrong".

You should call to order. I don't know if you do or not, but if you build a relationship with the guys on the phone you start getting better discounts. Ricky is a cool guy, and Matt Baker from Grant Kustumz just moved out there.

i actually knew jason from before SD. he used to work for dans competition a bmx retailer i bought my parts from when i was into that stuff. down the road before he opened the shop we would talk trucks and shit. i think my truck was the first on the site back in the day he used for advertisements. but i used wagoneer hinges. couldnt afford an aftermarket kit. its a small world i never would have thought some dude who was selling shit on ebay would write an article for MT and blow up in a couple of years.

i still have that truck bagged, body dropped, Suicide doors, tilt bed, all done by me in the mid 90s. i drove it from NJ to cali to texas heat wave. met some really cool people.

unfortunalty forums, internet, clicks, clubs and the new breed of minitruckers ruined the scene. not all of em just most of em. i respect the guys that are helping each other on the forums. but thats not many. god help you if you go agaist the flow on DND, youll have 30 key board comandos attacking at once followed by a life time ban. pretty sad if you ask me.
