So, there's a guy who has an office across the street from where I work. Seems he owns the Caddy built by Rad Rides by Troy. I got a chance to check it out this morning. Sweet freaking Caddy! The key! Where the hell is the key!? Yea, there's a ton of billet and chrome, but when it's done well, it's very nice. For me, the icing on the cake is that this guy drives this car whenever he can. It doesn't sit in a warehouse under a velvet tarp. Ya gotta love a roller.
That Caddy was built in 2002 I think it was. I stopped by Troys shop that year on the way to the Frog Follies and it was painted and almost complete. Loved it then, still love it now. Glad to hear it's being driven around although I have yet to see it at an event myself.
I like Troy's work because he's one of the few modern builders who doesn't spend 300 hours making an big cover to hide the money. If they spent time like that on the motor it would be money in the bank.
I saw this car up close in 2002 at the World of Wheels here in Washington DC. This is a super nice car. The detail is amazing, right down to the shift indicater (they had a trophey shop make it). Troy custom ran the exhaust through the frame for clearance.

I have seen the Caddy up close at Goodguys in Des Moines 3 different times, Extremely nice workmanship on that car. Troy doesn't mess around or cut corners, that's for sure! And Troy is a first class guy! Always willing to stop and chat, and answer any questions you might have. With all the publicity he's had over the years, he still manages to keep his feet planted firmly on the ground.
I'm so glad to see Troy succeed. Built nice cars for himself and it just grew. Talent. Wish I had it.
If you have to think about the cost ..then you can't afford it. The 2007 Riddler winner he built cost over $2.3M
man, you must live in a nice hood!! LOL!! Chicane IS the bomb! If you have ever seen it in person, you will see the amount of little work that was involved. Lots of little things you don't see at first. I have heard that a car in his shop equals out to be about $100,000 per year. The 62 took about 3 1/2 years!!
Thats insane to spend that kind of money on a vehicle to win a show and never drive it.That car was beautiful and Troy did a world class job but over 2 million.Whoa! Sure would be nice to have that kind of money.With that kind of bankroll I hope that guy is doing some good with it also.There is alot of hungry people out there.
I was told by a friend of mine ( a friend of his). $225,000 to start and that was a few years ago. It used to be $175,000 so I was told. His shop is just down the street from mine. I dont get that much.

he does some really neat stuff....that last vette they did , was pretty trick . a long way from that raspberry chevelle...then again , that mint green 60 , made me want to spray my chevyII wagon the same color... i remember going to the shades back in the mid 90's...the predator car that was owned by one of those ace hardware twins was there... they were playing classical music thru the cars gazillion watt stereo...and to this day i can remember it being crystal clear even cranked up... brandon
A guy by the name of Randy Wilcox here in Minnesota had it built originally. Story I heard was he was going to have one of the "big time" local shops do the car for him, but when he found out he could have a real "big time" guy like Troy build for not a lot more, he went with Troy... He now has what's probably one of the nicest 61 impala hardtops in the world now...
i visited his shop last year while i was in town for the pile-up. troy personally showed us around the shop and answered all the questions we had. him and his crew are very talanted individuals.
Does anyone know the two exterior colors on that car? I was thinking about doing a similar two tone on my 63 Galaxie ragtop.
