guys i know its getting late but anybody out there got any pictures with flat paint with flaked flames
"dads53" is flat black with green flaked flames, I'll see if I can find pics. found one http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238193&showall=1
The flames and top aren't flaked just color thats made from old Marono pearls back in the 80's. But are shiny and the black is flat. going to take some work to flake one and then use flat color without having one hell of and edge. Good luck. Don
Here's a couple-few for ya-none of them mine.....I don't know any details about them, except they have flat paint & flaked flames Hope they help a little Dan
wow this is looking great wasnt sure if i wanted to go that way but i think ive jut made up my mind any more
How about this then - 1. Flaked over black, then flattened clear? Is there such stuff? 2. How hard is it to get flake to stay stuck to the old standby's - Blitz Black or Rustoleum??
bloodyhell- thanks for taking that pic of that orange 54. If you have more of the car I would love to see them!
you'd think it would be easier to flake the whole panel and reverse mask the flames...and spray the flat black...less edge brandon
Less edge, but huge texture. Unless you put enough material on to cover the flake, then you have crazy film build. Not a good combo either way. Didn;t this thread just come up a month or so ago and have the same pics or am I dreaming.
Posted for the topic of flat paint with flaked flames. But they are flaked scallops. And for JONZCUSTOMSHOP too. P.S. The car has been sold, and someone actually repainted it black with a gold top. WHY? I cannot figure why someone would change that color.
Resurrected an old post about something I'm interested in. We'll be painting the 48 Plymouth a flat black in a few weeks and have been told I need to consider adding red flake in it. I can only picture heavy flake (which I don't want) in my mind. Anyone got any pictures with a flat black paint job with metal flake in it?
Plan on painting my car in about a month and going to do a white with an .015 flake blue flames. How much problem am I going to run into with a heavy tape edge? Will be useing a carrier clear for the flake, dont know how many coats of flake untill I get the color I want. Then clear, the stripe the flames and car , then more clear. First time to flake so any pointers?
