Dean It was last November 20007 I think on a Sat afternoon. Wasn't hyped up much- most of the crowd were old racers & were invited (We ran a 40 Willys A/GS back when dirt was new) It was open to the public but not that many knew about it. Yopu can tell that from the pics. Pretty much a who's-who everytime you turned around. sadly- many of these old guys were in scooters & oxygen bottles. Really ****s. It was held in front of the NHRA Museum. Everyone got a replica "Pit P***" for the event. Pretty cool. Out back- they set up a mock drag strip & fired up the cars & staged them for a photo-op (no p***es ). Also had a huge BBQ out back. I was like a kid in a candy store. Got about 1/2 of the pics I wanted to before the battery took a ****. Of all the cars that fired up on juice- guess which one sounded the most bad***? Yep. The 15 oz fuel coupe. Even more bad*** sounding than the fuelers & Altereds. That thing was loaded for bear! It's a bit blurry but it's my favorite.
****! I ran Irwindale. I should have known about that. And, I live 7 minutes from the museum. Gibbs sends me a mailer everytime someone farts at the museum, and I knew nothing about something this cool?? Hope they do another one someday.
