Event Coverage So Cal F.A.S.T. Route 66 Hill climb

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Crazydaddyo, Sep 7, 2008.

  1. Give me some details. The cars run up the road to the top for times? Does it end at the top? Are there any turns,or is it just straight? How long is the run?

Thanks, thought I recognized that green 29 Tudor. I believe Jay's car was the only entry in his class.

It is a timed 1/8th mile uphill. One car runs at a time. It is a standing start like a drag race and the quickest time in each class wins. The quickest cars are the modified Model A speedsters. They run in the low 10's and high 9's. They are doing right at 60 mph at the stripe. In the picture below, the finish line is were the umbrela is and there is plenty of runoff area over the top of the hill. Most run open exaust and the sound of the different Bangers running up the hill are bitchin.

  4. That is the picture that confused me. Looked like that car was going downhill. I didn't know he was returning. That's pretty awesome...

The narrowed frame cars would run in the Historic or time only classes.

Awesome Dan! Looks like it was a blast! Great coverage for sure!

Some of those cars were also at Antique Nats. Neat stuff!
