    Love that car.
If my memory serves me well, thats the first issue of Hot Rod that had color photos inside the magazine.
Because of the restoration of that car in yellow, most people think that yellow was the only color of the GBP car. Everytime I saw the car at LIONS Drag Strip and San Gabriel Drag Strip it was this orangish/red. Thats the only color I ever saw it in, including this Hot Rod Magazine photo.
I was stunned when I saw the restored car. Yellow??? Whats?
    Neat car.

  3. Heres the Little Green Wagon. Belongs to a couple of guys from Belgium. Pic was taken last weekend at the drag races here in The Netherlands where it was a lovely 90 degrees. Must say that the pic is from www.explosion.nl

I'm pretty sure they ran it yellow for a time in the 60's, Doug. I think somewhere I have a photo I took of it at Lions during that period. It's an outstanding car, really the quintessential AA/AFD. Very classy.

  7. What an awesome action shot!! The orange header blast on the pavement says it all. Drag racing is an explosion of energy, and this picture captures it perfectly. Very, very cool. Thanks for posting it.

The promoting of classic style gassers on nitro was good idea. I never could underrstood why the didnt catch on. Maybe fans were just too enamored with the funnies

Anybody else notice that ramrodder's picture of Strickler's '64 was a 2% car?

2% is incorrect, the 65 unaltered hardtops that ran at Beeline were 2% not the 64 cars.

Can you explain the 2 percent rule in detail? I have often wondered when and why it originated

Wonder what's correct here? For some reason I thought I remembered max legal altered wheelbase was 2% for both 64 & 65?

  23. Great Pomona pics! The 55 Chevy was Jerry Belanger's. It ran a 10% set back 406 Ford engine built and tuned by Les Ritchey. It was the engine out of Jerry's 59 Ranchero. Jerry and his brother Bob owned Belanger Bro.'s Muffler shop in West Covina. They built the headers on my roadster, and many other cars in the San Gabriel Valley in the 60's. Thoes pice really take me back. Thanks for posting. :)
