I've got a 59 chevy, but it its a 2 door... well 2 on each side! sometimes saying 4 door on here is like saying rat rod, or fire in a crowded theatre.... here are a few I like....
I like to refer to 4 doors as.....Crew Cabs.....that said,give me a 4 door hardtop over a wagon any day !
Here is the one I refered to earlier,,,HRP http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277993&highlight=doors
4 Doors actually are very cool right up to a point. Do you know where that point is??? It's the point that the owner gets all in your face about how their car is just as good as a 2 door, or in fact, better. See 4 doors are about accepting it for what it is, a used to be not-cool car that aged until it was cool again. It involves a touch of automotive existentialism. The moment you shatter that illusion, they lose a lot of luster. And being up in somebody's face about your own feeling of quadra-door-inadequacy just ain't cool, and therefore implies a general ickyness unto your car. When you get older this will make more sense. Ask your dad. (I dig the color, it's ballsy)
Don't waste your breath apologizing to assholes. If you like the car and it gets you into the game, screw anyone else. A friend of mine just bought a totally rust-free '64 Fairlane 4-door, all original with a 289 C4 for less than $800. And it's a brake-job away from being a driver, very nice and low mileage too. In high school I had a nice '63 Galaxie 500 XL 4-door hardtop with a factory 4-speed, bucket seats, console, etc. Oh yeah, I'd give $150 for that car again in a heartbeat!
Here's mine! Some guy shook my hand one night at a cruise-in and said " Nice to see another 4-door man." I told him, "I ain't scared!" Got rid of the Cragars and striped a truck for the rims- stock '56 Chevy rims off of a wagon. then I went ahead and striped the rims. I've been trying to lower it for weeks and just haven't gotten around to it yet. Brian
Here's mine. Kinda rough right now, but it got me and my son around when my once wife decided she didn't want to be a mother or wife anymore. Lot of sentimental value to both of us, would't sell it for the world. I don't drive it that much now that I have the 58 on the road, but still get her out a couple of times a month.
My '66 Rambler daily driver a few years ago.....This little car was a sweetheart. My '52 Kaiser My '58 Chevy My '56 Ford The car I got my first driver's license in 1961. A cool '62 Merc My wife's '61 plymouth
