Need info on where to buy a collapable (stow away in trunk) top for my glass body 32 duece roadster. send reply to hotrod_grmi@comcast.net 'drive'em till the snow flys' Mike M
There's also one out of Michigan somewhere called "Time Machines" I believe. Do a search as I miss-placed the info. It's as nice or nicer than the Bop Top but I think a little more expensive.
I just did a search but can't seem to find the info. Seems like they were located in Charlevoix, Michigan. Does that ring a bell at all?
I'm not trying to push them or anything and I think it's only a couple hundred more than the Bop Tops which I believe are around $2700. A friend of mine has one on his Brookville roadster and it just seems to be finished a little nicer. Nothing is cheap anymore, that's why I don't have either on my '32 roadster.
This is the top that Rodwell makes for '32s. The design was inspired by the old Carson tops. Unlike Chavers' top, the snaps are hidden, the top is padded, and the top fits the back of the body without a gap. It folds up and comes with a fabric storage bag that you can use to store it in the trunk or behind the seat. http://www.roadsters.com/rodwell/
Sids are the way to go. In my own opnion the Time Machine has got a wierd loft to it--Just don't look right. $2700 frt incl from Sid ain't too bad in todays market.
Did y'all see the part of the request where you're supposed to send replies to an Email address? You know, so the questioner doesn't have to do much more than click on his Email program to get the answers. About as lazy as it gets....
At least he did an intro for his first post. Quote: "New member and hello to all hotrodders. Any nice 32-34 ford cpe or rstrs forsale within 300 miles from michigan"
You can get the Sid Chavers top with hidden snaps too if you prefer, no extra charge... I personally like the exposed snaps is a better, more traditional look, and easier to replace if you ever get a bad one... but to each his own. If you install it correctly you can't see any gap, and it can't rub your paint and look bad when you don't have the top on. I also agree with Da34Guy's comment that the Bop Top has a better side profile, not to mention a much cleaner looking "mailslot" rear window than anyone elses...The inner tubing structure is clean and subtle too, unlike the "erector set" look of the Rod Top. I looked at them all very closely before buying, and found nothing compares to the original Bop Top IMO. Best 3 G's I ever pissed away at one time!
I have Sid's BopTop on mine. I prefer the lines of Sid Chavers tops. Here it is on the car in front of our motel at an out of town car show.
I agree with DEUCE32, don't know where to find a top for a duece but lots of companys make tops for DEUCES. _____________________________________________________________________ Like I told the kid, "Your music's not too loud, it just sucks and so does OKC."
I love the lines on this Rollin` Bones top,Nice deep peak over the screen, not to high, and a nice slope towards the rear and a perfect mailslot window. Some tops look like they`ve been taken off Armish buggies, all tall and awkward looking.
I have to agree that this is an excellent top profile. One of the best I've seen to date. 3" chopped windshield? What's also nice about it is that there's still a bit of a 'wedge' to it and it probably doesn't balloon up on the highway.
Thanks to everyone for your comments and recommendations. I will take serious consideration and make the best choice. 'Drive'em till the snow flys' Mike M
http://rodtops.com/ call and ask for chad draper..they sell with Brookville..Tell him goose sent ya...Ya just may get a discount....They are in traverse city, MI
Hey man,I think thats great, but here in New England,it rains alot,so I dont mind a top every once in a while.
Mine is mostly off the car. At 6'2" it's tough getting in & out! In the motel pic I posted earlier, the top was on the car getting there. Then we lifted the top off right after the pic & left it in the room for 3 days. Put it back on to come home.
