I have grown to love doing bodywork, block sanding is a very rewarding process, if you know how to do it. After a local friend who is an awesome body man taught me how to mud and block a car the right way, I now enjoy doing it.

Now doing the bodywork around all of those hood louvers? That may not be so much fun!

Jim, you are building an awesome car here. Who cares what it takes, how long it takes. I have been working on my car for over 3 years, and its not nearly as modified as this ford.

Mild customs seem to be the norm these days. Blah! How boring! Anyone can shave some trim, lower a car and paint it, but it takes real dedication, talent, and confidence to build a full custom, and in the end its a true form of self expression.

Or you could build a lowered, nosed and decked and thats it, mild custom, and have your car look like everyone else's.

  16. When I read your post I thought you had lost you mind .....until I saw the photos . WooHoo!!! Great lines !! But.... I'm thinking fins would ruin that beautiful swooping deck line . Show us a mock up . Very bold work .

i believe you just grabbed that car by its balls and showed who's boss...from what i understand this car started out turning into a mid 50s style custom that you were gonna drive the shit out of....now its turned into a one of a kind piece.got one question....you still do plan on driving the shit out of it....correct?????

mock up will be soon,,,,,im pretty sure im gonna still go with fins,,,but giving consideration to the style of fin the barris modern grecian had,,,,,overall, the car was not one of barris's finer efforts, but i always liked the fins,,,and havent seen anyone do similar ones,,,,the frames would be chrome, and the inserts would be expanded metal, to complement the expanded metal on the rest of the car (headlight area, grille, rear grille, fender cove, etc)..

yes,,,the portion in front of the "flying butress" is removable by itself, as well as the entire top as a unit..

WOW jim this thing is friggin insane... this is how legendary customs are built though... it takes balls, and a vision, it seems you have both haha. its just crazy how many new ideas are in this thing! i have to agree with nads, you dont see to many tasteful wild customs any more and this is definatly gonna be one. I have to see this thing in person, as soon as my college work eases up i definatly wanna come by and check it out if thats cool. Im curious if that other shoebox coupe in the background of the one pic is gonna be your mild custom driver haha.

A Crown Vic glass roof might be neat for the "Targa" part of the roof.

Wow... that things looks badass. If only I could have one quarter the skill and twice the balls that you do.

I seem to think that the longer you linger on this project the more wild it is going to get. I bet you have friends, not excluding people here online, demanding that you finish the current incarnation before this thing gets so wild that it levitates off the driveway and flies itself to Mars!

    Either way, I dig it!!

this car will never be done lol, it will only ever be in "mock-up" stage with things tacked onto it then cut out and then something else done...are you at least a little sure this is the direction you are going?
