I recently saw a wrecked one of these in the woods. Rust had claimed alot of it. With rust holes through panels. It was the 1st time I have ever seen a unibody in person.
Did they come with 9inch rears?

I am building on e right now . Huge peice of S>&*. Total rust bucket. At least it used to be . I will be running the original 223. Prices are just to exspensive to justify sinking into a truck you can readilly buy for pretty low. I seen one last week for 25 bucks. However I am enjoying the build and learning as much as possible. The coolest to me are the ones the brothers from cali. have (gray primer and low and one is chopped.

  7. UPDATE

Made some progress. Took a couple of steps back.

Was coming out of the parking garage after work on Friday. Hit the brake pedal to go around the corner and it went straight to the floor. That will explain the bent front bumper. Fortunately no other damage. New master cylinder and full brake job this weekend. Oh, replaced the fuel pump as well. All very non-glamorous stuff. Looks way better than the photos at the beginning of this thread but yet a long way to go...

That's a shame about the bumper. Did you have the original one chromed?

The truck looks good! You're moving right along, I'd say.

Well, guess I might have to go work on mine in a little bit. Not a Unibody, but none the less still cool, started as a long bed with a 223 inliner and 4 speed, now has a 460 and C6 and getting ready to attempt cutting down the bed and frame. (Bed was trashed back around the taillights so I'm gonna try something different back there.)

  21. I ve showed it before, but here is a 61 i built. I really should find some other photos to post.[IMG]

Here's my Ford Unibody..actually a Mercury Unibody, big back window. 61 truck with a 62 grille.

Its got a Volare clip, 86 Mustang GT 5.0L engine

Thinking of leaving it with multicolored fenders and doors but dont know about cop hassles

Also have a 65 F-100 that I drive until this ones done

    Cool thread!
Any more Canucks with these trucks?

  23. What cop hassles, the fashion police? Would look great with a nice red paint job.

Anybody have pics of the front axle mounted above the leaf springs, need to see how much I'd have to pick my 460 up to do it, I'm between building a gasser or lowering the crap out of it, would like to do the latter so I can take my grandmother for a ride since she has paid for most of the parts.

OK, one more question will a 39 ford front axle fit under one of these trucks with some custom work, width wise mainly, I've got one I just wrapped a lot of money up in and the hot rod is nowhere near finished, the truck just needs fuel pump, radiator, steering, drive shaft and at least front brakes to be back on the road and I REALLY want a toy going this summer so I don't tear up my new truck. The axle has new kingpins, bushings, speedway fat fendered/heavy car disc brake kit, so all is good there, just needs tie rod ends for the wishbones and center link. Was thinking mount the wishbones correctly where ride height would be and set it all up on airbags or adjustable coilovers, hell maybe even gasser style, since it keeps popping into my head.
