This show usually doesn't interest me but it was a slow tv night so I decided to watch. They took a 54 Ford 4 door hardtop, welded up the back doors, hacked the top off,and made a roadster out of it.Painted it a 2 tone green and pinstriped it.All done at the SEMA show.It turned out looking damn good.

I watched it last night for the first time (that episode, not the show) That car was at Viva but I thought some other dude was drivin' it. If I'm not mistaken he had a few chicks all dressed alike masquerading around him. I'm curious if the car has a different owner already?

the lady who it was built for had some eye issues..(medical)
maybe they sold it to pay for the medical expenses?..or maybe an opperation?
    I dont know, just saying..

  6. I wish they would, in the closing credits or at the end of the show, do a dollar value on parts and materials and show a total man hours tally...would be interesting to know and would show the average guy that you can't build a car in a week without thousands of man hours and thousands of dollars and hundreds of years of cumulative knowhow and expertise

wow 5000 hours..if the average salary was 20 bucks an hour that is 100G's right there..hell that car wasnt worth 100G's..or maybe..but i wouldnt spend that much on it.

  10. Not to mention payroll, tax, workman's comp...most of the work is usually done in California and those of us who live here know how much that is: Crate Motors, Paint, chroming, nos parts, interior, gauges, wheels, tires, etc...

  11. NSRA went through the "TAX" thing years ago when they started giving away a rod each year. They way they lessoned the tax bite on the winner was to only value the parts that the builder had to actually purchase. Everything that companies donate, including labor, was not included in the final value. Can't say if this is the current system as I've been out of the NSRA insider loop for many years.

I'm pretty sure I've read that they allow the option of foose buying the car for his collection. Seeing she had medical issues I'm sure she could very well have sold it to the. I've seen him plenty of times on different shows driving the finished cars from other episodes.

Either way it was a really nice car. The funny thing about it, is that the featured pinstriper was at Steeltown shakedown in Pittsburgh the other weekend. Should have got some striping done.

That would be a good thing than..
Because if not, could you imagine the bill you would get?..
most of the people I have seen on this program wouldnt be able to afford it..and would have no choice but to sell it off..and that my friend would suck..all those years of storing and tinkering on your dream car..to have Chip come and make it into what you always wanted..to end up having to sell it to keep feeding your family and to dodge the tax bill would suck ass..big time.

A guy out here in California has an "OverHaulin" car. Apparently, it can only be driven to shows and Foose has the right to take the car for display purposes. It was the Olds 442.

I think we'd all be surprised at how many people get their car overhauled and can't keep it due to the taxes. I seem to recall that on The Price Is Right, there is a tax rep backstage waiting for the outcome, so they can have a record of how much was won. I'm not sure if that is fact, but we all know Uncle Sam is gonna make sure he gets his.

I thought that it was one of the best episodes yet. They used a car
that anyone could afford and made it into a killer kustom. Could be done
in one's garage..... Found this picture from the "Viva" Show.

    Like to see more pictures....

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Jessie knows how TV land works. Maybe he can teach us. Too much misinformation floating around.

One of the guys in my car club (not really a club, just a bunch of us hanging out) has one of the foose cars.... a 1970 Nova.

At the end of this video (from a cruise we did a while back), you can see the car driving on the street.

    vid here

Here are a few quotes from the owner:

I watched it, and was amazed at the results. And a stand-up couple to do it for. I was blown away by the 5000 hours involved. That is one sweet roadster.

I saw it and was wondering how " SKRATCH " from here on the HAMB became Foose's number one sidekick. I would love to know what kind of money the " A Team " get for the short time they work.

    Lets' discuss the car..

I thought Foose did a good thing by putting painted steel wheels on the car much better than forcing some 24's under the frnders.

Does anyone know why they lengthened the wheelbase, I thought it was bit much for a week long project.

you can have it appraised by someone else and not take the TV shows high $$$$$ numbers.

even things like from the Price is right iareFull retail , you should be able to claim regular street store price.

But yes many people get stuck having to sell it to pay the taxes ,

I saw it and really like how the car turned out! It certainly suits the "style" of this board more than the other cars I've seen on Overhaulin' (not that I've seen very many episodes).

  29. Foose usually does a good job with the cars on there, he does what works for the car, doesn't add 20" wheels because a division of his company happens to make them, only if that's either what the car calls for or what the owner would like.

Wasn't one of the first builds they did a '56 Chevy 4dr that got shortened and turned convertible? It was a neat build except for they started with a clean driver. I probably should get out my DVD set of season one (it was on sale for like $6 when Comp USA closed, I think it was mismarked) and look.
