you asked, or else i wouldn't offer my opinion,,,the chop looks nice,,but the headlights .........not so much,,,they go against the flow of the car,,,and the drivers side one appears to be crooked,,,,,,,,way to think outside the box, and i applaud you for trying something different,,just dont think it really works,,,just MY opinion..

  8. Chop looks really good, im with kustom777 though. The headlights do not fit the car correctly.

Your shoebox is looking very cool, it pays to take your time and do the job right and yours is so right. The '40 bezels look very good from the front, how is the profile view of the bezels as to the flow from the fender?

Nice chop, looks great. I am not sure on the lights. I tend to be a ***** about doing things "period" correct, at the same time we all know the saying "opinions are like a## holes everybody has them. You have done well for a few weekends.

Nice Work and excellent chop! Good proportions!
The lighting and/or reflections in photo could make the headlight look a little off plumb. You may want to go back and check and re-check your measurements.
    Peace,

The point of customising cars back in the day was to 'update' them or make them more modern looking than the current detroit offerings, putting ten year old headlights in your new-ish ford would have seemed odd then, and it sure seems odd now. that said, nice work on the chop!!

I completely agree. However, I am all for using period incorrect parts and completely reworking them to get a period correct look. Not sure if this is the case or not on this build? Would they look good welded solid and molded? Not sure, but if they do, 40 Ford headlight rings may be a great way to get a Weesner like fender look with minimal effort.

You will have to excuse my bluntness.

Can we swap the gay *** GQ poser picture :) for one of the side profile of the front fenders and headlights. I can't tell from these photos but they may look awkward on the frontend.

Great looking chop though. Got any progress pics.

Don't like 'em at all, they're regressive and just plain look bad.

as far as the headlights being crooked thats cause the rings are just sitting on the buckets and have to be adjusted. We did the headlights cause I think they look pretty cool and for some reason the front fenders on this car were totally shot the hole headlight area was rot held together with old *** bondo so we had nothing to lose. I gotta say thanks for the opinions even if ya dont like the headlights we figured it would be a love it or hate thing.

I love the chop... and the headlights, not so much.

I like that you kept the drip rail.

    Hey,

I like the flow of your chop and the line it adds to this Shoebox.
Clearly you're not building a Shoebox that looks like everyone
elses! Tradition is a great thing and all, but not always a great
guide for a build. The '40 headlamp doors work for me, but call
for some 'top-notch' shaping to let them into the fender shapes.
Perhaps forming a light swage line into the fender tops, in lead
or steel, would work? Again, the "me too" look ain't foe everybody!

Great looking chop, i love it. But those head lights just don't look good!
The rule of customizing says do not use parts older than your car.
Whan that is said, it is your car and your taste.

For what its worth, here's another shot of one with '40 headlights.
Wouldn't be my first pick, but it is YOUR car.

Chop looks real good. like the others I dont like the headlights. it's your car though..

  28. Traditional explanations, candy coating, "in my opinion", "build it for you, bro", blah, blah, blah. Someone needs to save you from yourself. Those headlights ****in blow. The rest of the car looks good. Go ahead and leave them on your car, but trust me when I tell you that once you learn more about what you have and what you really want, you will get rid of them. Not to mention the fact that nearly everyone will tell you what a cool car you have except for the bad headlight choice. Keep them and embrace them, but PM me WHEN you finally swap them out for frenched stock lamps so I can tell you "told you so".
