Trekking back through the years of automobile mania that has possessed me since I was just a young tyke, there is one car that started the spark that set my brain on fire for cl***ic cars. . . . . My fathers '57 Buick two door Special. . .:rolleyes: Ever since I have been crazy about them. I don't have enough photos of them (I can never get enough) just wondering what you guys have. I will go rummaging through some pics tonight. I know my dad has a cherry pic of him and the car. Until then, this is one i found, and really like. (yes it was just on another thread, Thanks for the pic bro);)

    Good looking cars.

My dad's boss has a '57 Special hardtop that was bought new by a guy for hot rodding. It has a cam and a 3x2 setup on it. It was driven about 15k miles and parked. It is in nearly perfect condition, what you would see on a used car lot in about '60.

He is lowering it slightly, about 2-3", and has already put a set of Skylark wires on it. It is baby blue with white under the side trim and has a medium blue interior. Very sharp car!

I know where there is a '57 Buick 2 door post, it's rough in a junkyard but I thought about grabbing it and saving the seat, doors and quarter sections in case I ever found a 4 door that needed to be converted.

2 door post Buicks would have probably been pretty rare by '57 I would think.

Here's one that belongs to a guy in Washington. I met him at a show this last summer. It's pretty damn sweet!

"started it all"??? Not that I'm disagreeing with you, but I bet the first two years' Mopar Letter Car guys might argue with you a bit.

57 Buick is hands down one of the best looking US cars for that year. Puke city from 58 on up.

  11. I parted out a Special 2dr sedan a few years ago, StevieG got the motor, I still have a few bits and pieces, nothing 2dr. sedan specific. I kept the rear radius rods, nice and heavy.

I'm sure he mean't started it all for HIM, not some hypothetical Mopar nut.

I remember the family at the end of our block bringing home a new '57 Buick around Halloween time and it was already nosed decked, lowered and those "scoops" under the 1/4 windows were opened up and molded so they really were scoops. I thought that car was the coolest, with it's Skylark Wires but as soon as the '58's came out they traded it in on a '58 Bonneville convertible!

Always loved tri-year Buicks and Olds cars. One day I hope to own one.

I had a 57 Super 2 dr HT I just couldnt get into. Did some work to it, sold it. Dont really miss it, sometimes I do but not much. Talking to a family member about purchasing a 57 Olds 98 2dr ht w/ a complete J2 and power everything. Now THAT car won't ever be sold!

Last week there was a low mile stick '57 Special listed in the local weekly paper for about 8K. If it's still there this weekend, I'll post it after I get the Saturday paper. For you guys that are impatient. it was in the Prior Lake (Minnesota) American. They have a web site that may be of help.

I find $9k a little steep for that one as well, not really liking the post on the '57.

The post cars just don't got what the hard tops do. Totally interrupts those nice lines.
