Actually it's for my 58 Edsel, but it's the same as the Ford. Anyways, I tried ALL 3 radiators I had, and they ALL LEAKED! What are the best solutions you guys use? I checked with my local radiator shop that has re-cored for my dad in the past. I remember the cost being at around $200. Well now just the cheap core will cost $435!!! $500 for the 4 core!!! That is just not in the budget. I wanted to keep somewhat original looks, but for that money, I'd just as well modify a universal aluminum unit, and paint it black!

Are there any aftermarket companies making radiators for these cars? It's a fairly common application (relatively speaking), 57-59 Ford. Just looking for something less than half a grand! I don't care cross-flow, aluminum, copper, whatever would work for a reasonable sum. Thanks, Josh.

If they just leaked, take to rad shop

  3. just because it has a leak that doesn't mean it can't be repaired... that's what an actual radiator shop should be able to do for you... the price you were quoted is probably about right as copper/brass are more valueble than gold lately and a core that used to cost $100 ten years ago is worth $250 or more today... anyways... is the leak in the core, tube(s) to header, hose connection...? did you take it in to them or just ask them over the phone how much it would be to recore it? are all three leaking in the same locations? corrosion?

enlighten me. i can help. i work at a radiator shop.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to double check sometime, since it was last November since I've checked, but they all leaked at the core. I remember at least one was leaking from at least 4 spots on the core. Worth a check I imagine, don't cost nothin! And I did bring it to them in person, and he also called his supplier right on the spot.

Sucks though. I can remember the days of getting a radiator recored for $200!

Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely check them out. It'd be a good drive for me, but if they're good, then they're worth it!
