It reminds me of the OCC geeks.....the only thought was "how can I get this on the car" not thinking of what would look good.

  6. So what is that, traditional billet?

Different doesn't always mean it looks good.

It's a HEMI. I'm sorry, but there are just some things you have to be careful with, when it comes to trying to be original. Guys got a really clean engine, but that air cleaner doesn't work on it. I mean, DAMN, it's a freakin' HEMI for God's sake.

Kinda makes me think of the guys who painted huge American flags on their cars for the bi-centennial and not so long ago, 9-11. Yea, I dig you're a patriot, but come on.

I'm thinking they should have been thinking how to get it into a box. The fact that it's original thinking and using a part in an atypical place doesn't make it a good idea. It's too gawky and it adds a sence of too much "weight" to the top of the motor.

On the other hand, all data is helpful-now I know one more thing I don't want as a n aircleaner cover.

    Great restraint Larry.

  19. looks better than a mailbox on it.. give the guy a brake:D

  20. I actually kinda like the overall style, and it definitely doesn't look like billet. The problem is...I KNOW what it is, and I can't get that out of my mind when I look at it. If I could, I might like it, but as it is...

it takes focus away from the little details... the throttle linkage... the solid upper radiator hose... fuel filter...

    ...alternator...

  23. It helps stop dirt from entering the carb..

Last time i saw a drum that was worn thru like that it was thrown out .. Now thats.... Green thinking?

I can't decide if I like it or not! But I can appreciate the work that went into it...

  25. Not outside the box...outside the drum...and it help lower the front end another 1/4".

It really is clever, just wish there was a way to make it look less like what it is.

O shit...I just realized it has IMPERIAL valve covers...making the air cleaner the CROWNING TOUCH.

  26. With that said it needs some JEWELS on it!! LOL >>>>.

I think i will take my two 57 Vette aircleaners off and try to fit two of those on my car...LOL

  28. Maybe what I should have said is: a guy in a dress is different, too. That doesn't necessarily make it good.

FWIW, I really doubt they wore through the drum, those things have an iron liner inside and to wear that far youd pop the pins out of the end of the wheel cylinder and have a major brake failure. But once you took the hub and liner out of the thing it really wouldn't be that heavy, either.

I kinda dig it. I won't be doing it on my projects, but what the hey? Not everyone has to have the same tastes. I personally think it would have worked better on a nailhead, but I give it a solid 8 for creativity. It's still better than velocity stacks.
