Any engine can be converted to efi. if you dont want to alter the intake to accept injectors then you can buy 4150 or 4500 pattern throttle bodies that have the injectors built into the TB. Dont blame the ECU if it does not run as well as you thought, it only does what it is programed to do. The factory efi motors run well because they are tuned for that EXACT combination of parts. any deviation from stock and the drivability suffers. With the right software the factory units can be reprogramed / adjusted but I prefer to use something like the FAST brand system that includes a wide band 02 sensor that really helps get the tune dialed in. An aftermarket ecu can be tuned every bit as well as the factory stuff and can do things the factory unit cant sometimes. The key is to get the tune up / calabration right. Alot of people think they are great tuners but few really are. I am not one of those great tuners but am lucky enough to know a couple. Find the local efi guru and things will go smoother. You can have the best of everything and if isnt tuned right, it will run like crap. Doug
You also have a huge advantage with FI (if you want) in that some manifold + throttle combinations that are simply not practical with carbs work fine with FI, such as cross-rams, big plenum TR, and complex long runners like the 5.0.
you can trigger off the distributor no problem but a crank trigger is a more stable/ precise trigger. it also gets the ign trigger wire away from the high voltage in the cap that can sometimes interfere with the trigger signal that is pretty low level compared to the 30kv sparking all over the place in the dist. Usually the dist trigger works well enough that it isn't an issue for most installations.
Presride; If you look around you can find an Alum. manifold for that motor. I think it would make it easier to add injector ports to for you. I have a dual 4 intake and of course there are 2-3 and 4 carb manifolds out there also in Alum. What would He half to do to make a multi Carb manifold work with Port injectors? The Wizzard
Same as a single carb. The carbs just act as throttle bodies. I think someone makes a stromberg carb that is converted.

Moon has been continually backordered on those things for the last 2 years or so. I was ready to be a dealer for them and 6 of those was gonna be a large portion of the buy in. No go. They didn't have them, nor have they had them whenever I've called. I haven't called in the last few months, so maybe things have changed. But just like ordering anything else from Moon, buyer beware.
Consider Howell Fuel Injection, Marine City Michigan. I have installed 7 GM TBI based systems in everything from 6cyl Jeeps, SBCs, big block Ford, etc.. All that is required is an intake flange adapter to mate with what you have. They will burn a chip based on your specs. They use all GM components. Word of caution, this type of EFI runs best with a strong vacuum reference and can have idle surging issues when used with a lumpy cam. Cheap, easy to install, worked for me. Use an in-tank fuel pump or be sorry.
The coil just gives a signal to the computer for rpm. If you use a crank trigger you can adjust the timing with the computer. Hence the knock sensor.
The same way your crank trigger does. I've done a lot of aftermarket EFI systems and none of them ever needed a crank trigger, aside from the DIS systems. If the advance is locked out you can control all of the timing curve with almost all of the aftermarket ECU's. Does anyone ever read my posts?
I have a neigbor that is putting a 3-2bbl intake on his 241. He adapted the 3-bolt to 4-bolt carb bases which will act as the throttle bodies. An adapter sits across all 3 throttle plates and acts as a large plenum connecting all 3. Inside the plenum is the air flow meter that tells the computer how much air is actually moving. Should be a nice setup when finished. BillInjector bungs will be welded to each port. The system is from a 4.6 Lincoln.
