Its about 7 or 8 different shades Gene's fade jobs are a closely guarded secret I could tell you but then I would have to kill you......

  5. I did a paint job on a scale model for a carshow 7 years ago that was eerily similar. I used 3 different yellows. Pearl in a clear and about 3 varaitions of pearl with the yellows. The yellows were solids and metallics.

I think that car is now red, they repainted it and got rid of the Yellow fade.

Unless the red job is equally crazy I can't imagine why you would repaint it. That was the only truely good Monster Garage episode.

any one have pictures of it red?

  12. Looks to me like:
    1) a White base
    2) ..with a transparent gold fade from the bottom(could be a "kandy" gold color, but some of the off-the-shelf transparent yellow oxide toners can look really similar when mixed with clear) .....possibly with some gold pearl suspended in it.
    3) ..then a little bit of transparent orange fogged on along the lower edges
    4) Then a couple coats of pearl-in-clear over the whole job (probably gold pearl, but i think I also see a tiny bit of sunset red)
    ....then clear over top.
    Whew, i'm tired now.
