Guys, I have the opportunity to grab a garage spot for cheap. I also have the chance to get a lift realy cheap. So, Im thinking of moving my stuff from the house over there. It would be a spot to work on stuff, drink beer, have impromptu car shows, you know. If somebody need to wrench on their own ride or someone elses they can have at it. It would only run me a couple hundred bucks a month, which wont be too hard to float so Im thinking about doing it. You thinks its a good idea? It's in braselton, 100ft from hwy 85. Anyone in for a couple nights a month of beer and bangin on cars? Cheers
Where is it? YearOne is right over there...I worked there for three years. I can't think of some place in the neighborhood that had space. -Brad
Brad, You still work there? You drive a cherokee? if you get off 85 to go to Y1, you take your first left zion church road, it's down on the left...My bike shop, addictive, rents the office part of the spot, Im gonna rent the work space part. Im psyked, I cant sleep thinking about all the trouble Im gonna cause! Cheers Hodge
Ah...I know where that is. I drove by that building every day. Nope--don't work there any more. I drive a primer gray/white roof '62 Chevy Suburban. -Brad
Sounds like a lot of plus benefits, but have you checked out the security factor. I'd hate to see you move all your tools & treasures to a spot that could be ripped off while you're not around.
Hodge If thats the same location that Jackson County Street Rods were located, they got nailed a while back, lost a bunch of equipment and some rolling stock. they did get a pick up truck back, it was found at the anderson s.c. swap meet.
Hodge, If you rent a shop, get a lease with right to sub-lease and right to renew at an agreed upon price (maybe tied to cost of living index). You don't want to spend time and money setting the shop up to your needs and then have the landlord pull the rug from under you by kicking you out or selling the bldg. to someone who wants you out in 30 days or some such shit! I made a down payment in '86 on the shop you visited here in Griffin, with payments below what you're talking about paying rent. Yeah, it's "inna hood" but bars, locks, guns, and security systems take care of that! Wherever it is get to know your neighbors and they'll help you out if they spot intruders. I pump up all the neighborhood kids bike tires and footballs, basketballs, etc. Ask other places nearby what sort of response the local law gives on calls from security system monitoring services. My security system uses a permanently installed cell phone to monitoring svc. That saves the cost of a landline phone which the phone co. is gonna consider a business line and that's about $65 month! The extra equipment invoved for the cell phone will pay for itslf the first year! Dave
good advice DOM, thanks. I happen to rent another building from the same guy. So far, he's a stand up handshake kind of guy. Yeah CNC, it's in the same building as JCSR were. I will have it alarmed as best as I can. The Braselton cops and I get along pretty damn good, I donated some bikes to them, and am constantly hooking them up on stuff, so I have as many bases covered as I can. Im thinking I will start moving equipment over as soon as this weekend. I will also post the addy for you guys so you can map it and swing by whenever you feel like it. Maybe hand out a key and code to the hamners locally and as long as there is beer in the frig, we will have something to do. Thanks fo rthe input fellers. Cheers and beers Hodge
I would be interested in: A. drinking beer, B. having access to a lift once in a while, and C. drinking beer. I live in Mulberry Park behind Jeffries..
