just read an article in a mag about them. IF I can afford to, I'll be sending them my stuff. I think it was this months R & C...don't quote me, too damn many subscriptions...
On the other side of the coin, they pay their bills FAST! None of this 30 day stuff, more like 30 minutes! I'll keep doing biz with them as long as they need carbs!
The best of the best! My dad was actually there this morning picking up his 8BA. He built the motor but had a H&H do a few things for him like adjust the valves and such before we fire it. GREAT guys, reasonable priced. Oooooh, did I just say something about flatheads and reasonably priced???? Well H&H is reasonably priced.
Their the kind of people you can sit down and talk to, and feel your being taken care of. Bend over backwards for you. My kind of people. Max, Max jr, and Mike.--TV
Of all the places that Barney Navarro could have sold his lifetime work/legacy he chose H&H to carry on his product line. 'Nuff said, and RIP Barney. Frank
Great guys, great work. They did a Ardun flathead for us last year. 300 reliable hp out of a flathead. That is where all flatheads we do go. Wil www.sakowskimotors.com
We bought an 8BA short block from them in 2004. I ordered it at their booth at the L.A. Roadster show. Mike told me he had one back at the shop that was almost ready, so I gave him a cash deposit. The following Saturday, since Mike was coming to San Diego anyway, he personally delivered my engine to me at my house! Who else would do that?
Quality workmanship, Performance minded, Conduct a good Business, and are Cool Guys. Stand behind their work. They come highly recommended from me. I don't think anyone else could have pulled it off. My motor is awesome. Talk to them, tell em what you want, get it built the right way. Brian
What everyone else said. Few years ago, I bought a banger intake from them to be sent to the UK. Max got it into the post to me BEFORE I'd sent him the check. Fantastic service.
If you show up in their booth as a 25 y/o who looks 20 and want to talk Ardun stuff, be prepared to get blown off. They may be nice over the phone or in person to the "older folks", but I won't be doing any business with them when it comes time to build my engine.
Mike is one of the most personable and hard-working people in the business. I have seen him totally exhausted and always treating everyone equally. He loves what he does and that's the kind of person you should want to do business with. It would be a lot easier to pop out belly ****on engines- but what these guys do takes so much more work. Mike has put in years of work preserving the legacy and hard work of Barney Navarro- that alone is worth giving him a shot.
Well bigblock, there you go, all of those comments from paying customers and only one negative who didn't have a transaction with them. No disrespect chickenridge, we all have our opinions and you're certainly en***led to yours. I'd highly recommend you give them another chance. We all have bad days and you may have just caught someone at the wrong time.
I see them and their display every year at the DFW GoodGuys event. They always have the coolest stuff on display and always take the time to answer peoples questions. Who else would fire up an Ardun equipped blown flathead just to let you hear one run for fun?
Hey Mark, Jump a ferry, come on over, drink my beer, I'll tell ya all about it. Just here in Poulsbo. Ardun Banger baby!
So, a business only has to be personable towards paying customers and not potential customers with $$$ to spend? A "bad day" isn't an excuse for poor at***ude towards a potential customer; it's an easy way to blow a sale. First impressions account for a lot in the world, you know. If a guy comes in who's knowledgeable about Arduns, indicates he has a pair of heads, and is asking questions that "typical" hot rodders wouldn't even know to ask about the engine on the stand, you'd think the salesmen (plural) would be more receptive towards him. My engine needs parts (and perhaps a blower), and H&H would've been a prime place to get them from. Sounds like they've treated a lot of guys right, I just wasn't one of them on that day in Columbus in July.
