  4. I'm putting my 42 chevy pickup on an s-10
and my friend glen has put a 36 ford tudor sedan on one, along with a 53 plymouth 2 door savoy wagon, a 53 mercury 2 door, a 1924 buick touring car, and a 62 corvair convertible ( he cut the floor out and used the s-10 to make a unibody structure for it)

We'd love to have Glen on the board, too!

It would be awesome to hear some of his stories, and see any pictures!

I think you're a little confused as to what a unibody is. did he use the S10 frame? Then it's not a unibody, it's a full frame. Unless he cut the front of the frame loose and attached it to the body in the front, then cut loose the rear section and did the same. If he sat the car on the S10 frame, even if he used the S10 floor, it wouldn't be considered a unibody. Just saying...

    It turned out quite well!

Like it or no, here's a picture that shows an S-10 bed against the older truck's cab. I figured I'd post it so folks could see them together for reference (this is definitely something you don't see online every day):

Yeah, not quite my bag of tea either, but it does illustrate the S-10 vs old truck relative dimensions really well by butting a cross-section if each back to back - in this case, the front of the bed vs the back of the cab. You can almost superimpose a ghost image over the top of the photograph of each vehicle - first the S-10, then the older truck, and see with your mind's eye (in 3-D) how the S-10 almost fits inside the older truck... and where.

Okay, the dash vents for the AC aren't THAT bad, I guess. The type certainly goes with the interior, but the placement (which is what I'm focussing on) is nice.

And while I'm not a big fan of the big GM steering column, it's nice to see the lower cover he made (and carpeted) in order to hide it. :)

Maybe that would be a good idea..

today i have bought in the netherlands new Bed side pannels with zincor from this person:

    http://pick-up-parts.com/

    20071223_1084498321_p1010164.jpg

these panel sides where with a small failure in it so i have paid a good low price..:D

here is some info what Zincor®) is:

Electro-galvanized Steel: Many of the sheet metal parts pick-up-parts manufactures including tailgates, front bed panels, bed sides and cross sills are made of electro-galvanized steel (Zincor®)
The thickness of our sheet metal is 1.5 mm. (Compare that with others!)
Zincor® is coated by electrodeposition on both sides with a pure zinc layer.
This coating is characterised by the uniformity and the regularity of its thickness.

There are several reason for selecting this steel for our products:
    1. Zincor® is clean and dry.
    2. Zincor® has a good resistance to corrosion during our processing and while on the shelf.
    3. It has also an excellent weldability, due to the uniformity and regularity of the zinc coating.
    4. Electrogalvanised products are an excellent substrate for painting, both in terms of adhesion and appearance.
    5. After the parts are painted, the zinc under the paint helps prevent loss of paint adhesion or rusting if the paint surface is scratched or damaged.

    LOL!

Probably should've left out that last part about making it yourself. :D

Email LMC Truck. They actually sell reproduction cross sills. There are three types, a front, a rear and a couple center ones.

Here's the page from their catalog, so you know what part number to refer to:
    http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/CA/full.aspx?Page=26

You should be able to find a link to an email address on their site. Also, they are local to me - if you do decide you want to order a bunch of stuff from the USA, I have the ability to actually drive out there on my lunch break and pick things up for you. I could package all the things you bought from all the different companies, and ship them as one big lot.

I took my old bedsides to an old Italian guy who manufactures commericial steel grade kitches and he duplicated them to the exact dimensions and thickness.
It only took him a day and cost me only $100.00 each including the metal.
I then removed the old stake pockets from my original bed sides and welded them to my new ones.
    They turned out perfect.
I purchased my rear roll pan and tailgate from Mar-K located in Oklahoma and it is real nice quality stuff.

    Check it out.
