Sorry for the off topic post but I need to find a rear diff pumpkin for a 77 Mustang II quick and was wondering what all will fit. I'm sure this group can answer quicker than me trying to figure out where to ask (there probably is a Mustang II forum somewhere) You can PM me or post if here if everybody doesn't get too riled up about it.
It's a Ford 8", they are fairly common. Oddly enough, a LOT of MII's got 3.40:1 posi pigs from the factory. FYI its 57.25" flange to flange overall width, 4-lug axles. Fits nicely under an early Mustang too.
Yea, just that part. The car will be getting a 302 in it and I was wondering what I might find used cheap. One other question, can it be flat towed without it? I assume not since nothing is supporting the end of the axles.
No, but the good news is they are REALLY easy to drill because if you pop out the other 3 lugs, the remaining one is where it needs to be for the 5 lugs. Mic off the center and go.
8 inch...........I took a 3:55 center from a Mustang II and used it in a Maverick 8 inch in my Studebaker.
I believe any Ford 8" center section should work. I'd go to a self-serve junkyard and get a whole rear end. Also, post a wanted ad here. How far are you from FlatTopBob's yard? If you're looking for a "posi", you might see what a new one costs. Thanks, Kurt
